Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Rumours Etc part 2.....2024/25

Transfer news
Other than Alex Reid, none of these are NL or EFL proven so it’s real easy to just sign anybody.

Would be underwhelmed if we signed all of those bar Reid.
I wonder if that's what all the league leaders fans said when they signed around 7 each of Well trained Under 21s from Higher level just like this and have propelled them in to the play offs . Maybe a Pepple or two in there

So are we actually going to sign someone before tomorrow! Would of been an added atmosphere if we had signed there goalkeeper the day before the game lol

I’d be surprised if we heard about until the morning of or a couple of hours before KO. Seems to be the way that Kev and Co like to deal with new signings. As others have said keeps the other teams guessing.

Will Randall: over 100 games for Sutton Utd, also featured for FGR, Newport and Notts Co.
Taylor Clark - Wycombe Youngster age 19
Connor McAvoy - Scottish U21 age 22
Harrison Sonha - 22y.o. Midfield started @ Villa
Luca Gunter - Youth keeper from Spurs - Capped England U17

I haven't included Reid, as he is better known at this level.

The others, Gunter has been brought in to cover and Clark too I would hazard a guess, but the others, if further down the line in future seasons, in a Jan window we had this activity, and there are no recalls apparently on these loans, according to a 'Stones director, then they could be looking to secure deals in the summer. although you would have to get the perm to loan squad balance right, but I think we would look on this as positive. they all seem to be young talent with a few edges to be rounded off.

Cards would be a good example of being an U21 international and never making it at league level.

The only free agent, Randall at 27 should be in his prime and having a good experience at this level, but never quite cracking the EFL, would probably be a good acquisition for Wealdstone, with little lay out. Isn't that, in their case possible value for money?

So how true was it that Tom Hopper was training with the squad Or was that more pie in the sky stuff .Maher sais quote we have irons in the fire Has the irons gone cold Or was that more spin to try to please the fans that he is doing something .Or is it all talk no action .

Any one know How much the crowdfund raise?

Don't know how it works, but this is the background from a director of the club.

"We have a long standing supporter who has a database of fans who have been willing to help fund signings in the past. It's as simple as we provide info to him on a target and he communicates with that group. They then pledge money to help get the signing over the line and money is transferred to the club. It's quite informal but highly effective.

Some fans will commit 4 figure sums, some much smaller amounts. The net effect however is the money raised to get the signing over the line. Alex's wages will be paid by fans as his deal is incremental to the budget, he's aware of this and in our experience it creates a real connection between player and supporters."

I bet Ron funds Bonne's goal bonus...

You can laugh but I think the assessments of Moncur, Bonne and Hopper by opposing fans who watch the team week in week out are as accurate as anything a scout comes up with. It was always Danny Bakers argument that if you were interested in signing a player you should go in the players fans local pub before the game and ask around. Now we have social media I think a fans forum will give you a pretty good idea. There are idiots but you can soon flush them out or they are overwhelmed by popular opinion. Spend a couple of hours on here reading post match threads and player ratings would be very useful before making a signing of one of our players.
Danny Baker does talk a lot of nonsense. The majority of opinions I hear about Southend United from fans in pubs are utter nonsense. Including my own.

I've never understood this myself. What difference is signing today going to do their prep?

"Computer, would player X be a good signing"....

significant moves from Wealdstone over the past week:

  • Will Randall - winger - free agent
  • Taylor Clark - midfielder - loan from Wycombe
  • Connor McAvoy - defender - loan from Fulham
  • Harrison Sonha - midfielder - loan from Cheltenham
  • Alex Reid - striker - loan from Oldham - **Wages paid by crowd funding from section of fan base**
  • Luca Gunter - goalkeeper - loan from Spurs
How many loanees did they lose in January? Not trying to be smart, genuine question.

Wealdstone are part time and have a tiny wage budget and have to operate in a completely different way to us. They heavily utilise the loan market, and those players will be training with their full time club when they are not with Wealdstone.

Unfortunately for them, they experience a high turnover when the more successful ones inevitably get recalled.

It is also advantageous for them in some ways. Parent clubs are able to keep a closer eye on their players, and for that reason may be more willing to loan certain players to Wealdstone than, say, Sutton or Dagenham.

Either way, they're not a good comparison for us but they definitely deserve a lot of credit for their recruitment.
