Someone on Facebook has just said he has heard we have put in a bid for Nicky Forster (Yes the 37 year old) who is currently at Brentford...

Good player, obviously best years behind him but I still think he could contribute more at our level than some of the garbage we have in the ranks.

He had a very good couple of years at Brighton recently (40 goals in less than 90 league starts) and this time twelve months ago Charlton thought he was the man to get them out of League One. Plus he always seemed to score against us. Could be interesting. I'd have thought we'd have been looking for someone with a bit of pace to play alongside Barry Corr.

Although not from a substantiated source, I have been told that Sturrock was after Alan Gow who has just signed for Notts County.

A great player, but not sure he's what we're looking for. Gow is slower than molasses (*), albeit that he has a very good footballing brain - he's like a poor man's Teddy Sheringham - but it seems to me that it's pace that we're after.

(* I saw him as a young player when he was at Airdrie - and even as a lad in his early 20s he was slow.)

bridge wilkinson released by carlisle...centre mid.dont know much about him but im sure hes scored a fair few in the past cos i recognise hes name from gillette soccer saturday etc.31 yr old so fits the experienced player catergory that sturrock mentioned recently

The further South he's even been was Derby and that was when he was a trainee. He's not going to up sticks to civilisation for the sort of money we'd be paying.

With Chris Powell now installed at Charlton, perhaps he could help us by sending a few fringe or reserve players our way?

What's that Alan McCormack like? I bet he'd play well alongside Sawyer.

Billy Knott - I have posted a few times about this young lad and having played against and seen him play a few times i would have him here on loan in a flash .

currently at Sunderland having been released by Chelsea ( yes did do something silly , but how hasn;t at a young age ) , scores goals as an attcaking left midfielder and I'm sure we could get teh boy on loan having his family living here means it would be no issue at all in regards to distance and settling in .

Will be a top player in the future IMO

There was a thread about this Cunnington bloke on here a while back. Think it was deleted after the site issues though. Seems we have been tracking him a while. Probably a Widdrington target?

could be, i know someone who went to uni with him so will try to find out more

I found one of the most disappointing, if not the most surprising, things from the phone-in last night, was the admission by PS, that a few of our first choice transfer targets had turned us down.

Think that was more to do with player agents, than the actual players themselves though.

That I understand.............but unfortunately it doesn't change the end result. IIRC, PS said that he didn't want to let it go down to the wire, but in the end, if players, for whatever reason, don't want to sign for us, what can you do? Is it better to try the loan market, rather than bringing in lower targets that may not be better than what we have already got?
