no 'i would like gerrard on loan'
realistic targets /ideas from league 1, 2, non league and free players

i will go for
guttridge
lee hendrie - FREE
clayton donaldson
calvin zola
febien brandy - FREE
stephen glass - old but FREE
bryan hughes - FREE
jennison myrie williams

also i would bring back lee turner even if it means releasing one of the goalkeepers and name turner as a player and place him on the bench

We'd have no chance of signing any of those, and I wouldn't want that little runt Guttridge back anyway......

Didn't realise Torquay had released Wayne Carlisle. Would give him a short contract as out and out right winger and we're a little weak in that position.

My suggestion a couple of weeks ago was to get a local lad , Kirk Hudson, on loan from Brentford but AFC Wimbeldon picked him up last week.

Whoever we do or dont sign it is a shame that Sturrock will be the man to decide. This manager has already signed an incredible 24 players, including loanees already! There is not a manager among the 92 clubs who has that much of a free hand. And yet, here we are 17th in the lowest division behind the giants such as Stevenage, Accrington and Morecambe. We have played 26 League and Cup matches with just 8 wins! The club is in crisis both on and off the field, WAKE UP EERYONE!!!!

So what were the standards that you were expecting, Fairport? Where did you think we'd be at this stage of the season?

Sturrock signed 24 players but after every other manager had signed the players that they wanted.

There's not a football manager among the 92 clubs who had to sign that many players, owing to what happened last season and during the summer. To criticise Sturrock for the number of players we've brought in is ludicrous.

Bournemouth are thinking about making an offer for Southend striker Blair Sturrock, as a replacement for Mcquoid...

:hilarious:

Presumably, it's OK to criticise him for their quality(or rather lack of it)though?

Corrected.

He was a decent player a few years back. Whats happened to him to result in him ending up at Morecambe? I would imagine he'd want more than we can offer, but if not he'd be a good acquisition.

Probably not as much as you think as Morecambe only get crowds of 2000 or less, so won't be very wealthy.

It would never happen anyway. When I have spoken to him about it he is never keen on the idea as there are too many distractions so close to home. Would love to see him in a blue shirt though, I guess thats why I always tried to convince him to play for us!

It doesn't matter who he brings in, they'll be slated and doubted before they even touch a ball. Personally, I would like to see some midfielders coming in on loan. Wouldn't mind Oliver Norwood on loan, he can take a mean free-kick.
