Transfer Embargo

Well obviously the club don't need supporters to stay afloat.

I'm inclined to agree. Mr "Open Book" Martin has been keeping a very very low profile indeed recently. I think it's about time we heard from him even if it is a "bear with us, we're doing all we can but can't reveal everything yet" kind of thing. As it is, he's gone to ground having promised a statement and leaving everyone to speculate as to what the heck is going on with our club.

I'm a little confused.

Surely there either is an embargo on transfers/loans or there is not.

If there is an embargo how have we managed to bring in Morrison?

Can there be a halfway house? Am I missing something?

No you are not missing anything, we are all confused, especially when you throw in Joyce not being on the bench last week- will be interesting to see what we have tonight

Is this the first time that the Echo have stated that a transfer embargo is still in place?

http://www.echo-news.co.uk/sport/theblues/4755074.Tilly_tells_team_to_ignore_league_table/?ref=rss

Also stating, what most of us had understood, that Joyce can't play if Morrison is in the squad. According to the Echo this was the agreement with the Football League and it will only be changed when the embargo is lifted. It's an article that you can find on the OS.....................only, of course there is no mention of the transfer embargo!
Ron, if you're reading this, a couple of simple questions that I hope you will answer in your blogs.
1) Why is there still a transfer embargo in place when we've paid the taxman?
2) When do you expect that it will be lifted?

1) Because we still owe players either a) wages or b) bonuses, be they appearance or win
2) no time soon i anticipate

Yes, this is what most of us suspect. I would still, however, like to hear it from Ron along with the sum that is at stake. As far as I am concerned, it is one thing, struggling through to January with the present squad.......... it is totally another, to find ourselves in the same situation in January being unable to add to the squad when the new transfer window opens. I trust that we don't owe millions and it could be the sort of thing that the monnies collected by the Shrimper Trust could be used for..........I'm sure that Ron would not agree.

Rumours of embargo being in place still as we owe money in respect of a former loanee.

But, from what I've heard, Chelsea paid 100% of his wages whilst he was here, just as they did last season when we had him.

Not sure who OBL is refering to ^^^ but i heard the story about Dervite and is the reason he won't come back even though we want him and Tottenham will sanction the move

The echo today http://www.echo-news.co.uk/sport/theblues/4767303.Ibehre_can_t_wait_for_Brush_link_up/clearly states that we are still under a transfer embargo, with all those coming in (Morrison, Malone, Ibehre) under specific agreements to cover injuries.

Surely it is about time that the club released an official statement explaining why if Ron has paid up all the debt to HMRC. Rumours of unpaid loan players, if untrue, could easily be cleared up, couldn't they?

Good point.I'm sure Ron will adress it in his next blog(not).
BTW Can anyone confirm that Revell's loan period with Swindon is just until January? Is there any chance of him being allowed to play for them in the Cup against Fulham?

I wouldn't be surprised. It doesn't sound as though he's coming back here whatever happens (despite our chronic shortage of players) and it's not as though he's likely to be attractive to any club that progresses further in the competition (no need to worry about cup-tying him). If they want him to, I don't see any reason why we wouldn't allow him to play.

I think its a case of the league playing hardball, we messed the tax man about so I think the embargo will be in place for x amount of time (a slap on the wrist if you will)
