Tilson really has not got a clue!

To some on here calling for the removal of the manager all I can say, to quote the FA when they initially spoke to Sven-Goran Erikkson about the England job, "Get a Grip"

Today i thought we were gutless, mindless and useless!

Fair play to Colchester, they came to win the game and in my eyes played really well and deserved the three points.

Tilson must take the full flack for this match, and where we find ourselves in the league.

Poor signings, poor tactics, lack of tactical awareness with substitutions, lack of loan signings, and lack of idea at this level.

Tilson can never hold his hands up and admit he gets some things wrong with the team. Where was the apology to us the fans and a really shocking display today? All Tilson can come up with is excuses.

I for one wouldn't be at all dissapointed if he resigned tomorrow.

We need changes big style. A clear out for our assault on league one wouldn't go amiss!

:(

Surely you can't blame Tilson for Efe's mindless attempted back-header that let in Cureton?

He may not be doing a brilliant job at the moment, but he's not being helped by moments of idiocy like that.

As there were 89 minutes left after the opening goal we had ample time to get back in the game.
In today's Sun Tilly is quoted as saying "There is no pressure on the lads now as everybody is expecting us to go down" , that must be including all the players (who seem to have given up) and the manager. Total lack of fight -- not acceptable , if you ask me.

Similar to when we done you 3-0 at home last year then? You've had a couple of good results. Remember you're still a tiny club that will come down with a bump soon.

A couple of good results? We'd had at least 18, last time I looked.

Such a shame isn't it that the table is decided on results, and not how many supporters you have or how big a ground you play in. Poor old Massive United.

If you bother to read the official website Tilly is quoted as saying "I still believe we can get out of this..." - or should we take the Sun's comments as being more accurate than the recorded interview...??

I wouldn't dispute that at all Ken. It was TTK's assertion that Tilson has to take 'full flak' that got me. The players have to take a large chunk of the blame too.

Tilly is doing nowt different to last season please take into account that we have stepped up a league with pretty much the same players and what we have bought HAMMEL and CLARKE just have not performed.....

END OF....

i havn't read the whole of this thread so not sure if this has been mentioned as yet. but i think you can't blame tilly for yesterday. the only thing i will say is that tillys after match interview was terrible. he used every excuse in the book. he should have put his hands up and said we were just crap, but listening to it i was so surprised by how he used excuse after excuse. i want to make it clear that i do think tilly is useless just he didnt use the best of words yesterday, hence all the replies bbc essex got stating tilly didnt have a clue

Ive known Tilly fo some years now and he doesnt really like the interviewing. He just wants to do his job and make SUFC a successful club...

Tilly does certainly seem to like to blame anything but the players - why does he continually stick up for them when frankly they couldnt give a t*ss about him?

I'm not a big fan of Foran anyway and today has done nothing to turn me round. £150,000, Jesus. Still can't work out why we couldn't have spent that on Agogo in the summer but there you go. Richie was obviously busy thinking about where he was going to get hammered tonight.

Bradbury along with Clarke are the only 2 to come out that with any credit whatsoever. Freddy had a good first half but couldn't sustain his one man band in the second.

Colchester once again proved what they have that we don't. First of all organisation and leadership, because we've got naff all of either of those. Second of all they're a team, we're a bunch of individuals.

I thought that perhaps Tilly might have buckled and had a moan about the players, but I see he's once again opted for the nice formal approach. The first goal killed us!? So we were finished after 38 seconds were we?

I agree with all of this.

The criticism of Bradbury's play is baffling. He seems to be doing all that is asked of him. One moment of absolutely sublime play stands out in teh second half. Peter Clarke arrowed yet another rocket over the top in front of Bradbury. In spite of being marked by not one, but two Colchester defenders, Bradbury took the pacey ball at full sprint on his chest before sidestepping a further defender, holding one defender off and laying it off to Fred when he caught up with play. He's had a few games (Ipswich away springs to mind) where he's looked like the only refined and composed player we have.

Unfortunately, the only way you can justify his inclusion is when you have a selection of genuine goal threats in midfield. Gower, fine, he's fulfilled his part of the bargain and on a board obsessed with goal returns for attacking players I'm very surprised that anyone can seriously criticise his contribution this season.

My biggest gripe with our performance was the manner in which two players brought in to be dynamic, aggressive and competitive were passive, behind the pace of the game and completely unthreatening. For those who have suggested Tilly take all the blame, can you seriously tell me you could have predicted Foran and McCormack being so ineffective? McCormack barely got near a white shirt all afternoon and It must have taken him 70 minutes to support the strikers. Foran was so bad that he forced Tilly to make an almost unthinkable half time substitution. As N'Zamba says, I have no idea why people hung Paynter out to dry at a time when we simply couldn't defend and yet Foran appears to be flavour of the week. I think he's put in some promising performances but yesterday he looked completely unfit.

The point where I think Tilly could do better is, after seeing your team concede 7 goals in tow games without seriously troubling the opposition keeper, to put more accoutnability on the players. Unfortunately, he seems to apportion all the blame to the team as a whole and ultimately that comes back on him. It's admirable and something I applaud for most of the season but you have to have at least one time where you take the players out of their comfort zone.

I think, leaving out JCR aside, Tilson picked the right team today but some very important players severely let him down. As manager, he needs to make them take responsibility for survival cos at the moment, only Bradbury, Clarke, Maher and JCR seem intent on not only competing in but winning games.

Although i think Sodje's a more accomplished defender, I know that Barrett would be the type of player to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

Well listening to his after match interview om Essex when asked if we can still stay up there was a pause as wide as you could have got two busses through!............. followed by its going to be extremley difficult. I prefere to draw my conclusions on his honest opion from that rather than the offical site where the club has had time to consider the financial implications in admiting to the Southend paying publis that the club has thrown in the towel. But having said that the remaining games are sell outs anyway so that blows that theory.

Fair point, but I think it is clear to everybody including the press, that Tilly is often like a rabbit caught in the headlights when a camera is shoved in front of him...his words have been less than inspiring for a long time.

Francis and Barrett in for me Monday. Clarke in midfield and Maher on the bench. Give the arm band to our true captain Adam Barrett.

Maybe Tilly is out of his depth this season...We came from Knowhere to Championship in 2 years ...I do not see the point of slating him..He is on a learning curve too. Success is never forever...If we were in the Prem and going down people would get on his back. So what, if we end up back in Div 1...Of course it isnt what we want but mayebe next time we will come up stronger.. Colu had a sustained time in that Div WE didnt...Loads of mistakes from "our" point of view have been made this season, but we look on from the sidelines. I was always in doubt if we would survive this year after coming through the ranks so fast..It does hurt but its still a great future in front for our club.

Exactly, another bottle job decision by Tilly, everyone knows that Barratt is the man for the job but oh no can't upset king Kev, bit like the striker situation really!

Drop Maher???? thats the worst decision i have ever heard, kev has been one of our best players, he controls us in midfield.
Foran came of cos he was playing crap, however i must agree, i want him upfront, got nothing against bradders but i dont think this league is for him. but will someone answer me this, why did hunt start. he has played like a sack of ****. francis has played brilliantly recently where as hunt makes constant errors. i agree with starting hammell to get hunt out of left back but why drop francis who has been one of our best players lately.
