"Tillys a top glass gaffer but Brush and Austin are perhaps not

Is it not worse for the morale in the squad for the starting XI to know that they've only got an hour to get it right or they'll be hauled off for someone who at 2.59pm wasn't consider good enough to get into the team? Several of the players in our promotion seasons spoke about the way that Tilson gave the players on the pitch the confidence to express themselves by allowing them the freedom to make mistakes. They can't do that if they're constantly having to look over their shoulders towards the subs bench.

Besides, the best players at 2.59 are still the best players at 4.30 so why would you choose to weaken your side unnecessarily?

Beefy you consistently come on this board and talk complete and utter sense every time. It's got to stop. Don't you realise after every defeat "fans" have the right to come on here and talk utter bollocks. Get a grip man.

Least Martin Allen wouldn't take any crap from his players!

There must be other bosses in the Martin Allen mould out there that would jump at the chance to manage Southend. But that will be the trusted choice of Ron Martin and Geoffrey King.

I think Tilson has well and trully lost the dressing room, just like what happened to Jol at Spurs. Tottenham didn't mess around getting him out did they.

Tony Martin "mad dog" Allen would have probably chinned the guy. Why do people think they can abuse people at a football game with language that would get them arrested if they used it in the High Street. Mark my words the only reason Tilly will leave this club is to get away from the ignorant rabble.

Maybe but if tilly thinks Southend are the only club in the country where fans give you stick , then he has a harsh lesson to learn.

Managers take the plaudits when things are going well and their names get touted in the papers when a vanacy is available , so does he think that this wouldn't happen at say Norwich, Norwich fans have even higher expectations than us seeing as they were in the prem 3 years ago.

It is part of football , i know for a fact Tilly is a tough lad as have played against him when he was Canvey and he was the getting right stuck in and didn't mince his words , so i'm sure he can take this type of thing and i defo think he is the man for this club.

we are going through a little dip in form right now but for players like Hammel who want to jump ship at the first sign of trouble then i have no time for him .
Every player is replacable and if he doesn't want to play for us then it's best we get some money for him and move on , i won't be lossing any sleep over it .

Sorry Duncan but the current level of abuse by fans is unacceptable IMHO. It's only a matter of time before one is given a pasting by a ****ed off manager.

That is absolute bollocks. So if we were losing 3-0 at half time, you expect Tilson to stay with the same squad for 80 minutes? The same squad who have conceded 3 goals and not scored any. If you dont change the team during the match, you cant change the result. It was clear on saturday certain players wern't playing well and should have been taken off at 60-70 minutes such as Black and Morgan. Maybe there would have been a different result.

there is a fine line between keeping the faith with a player and then them becoming a "managers favourite"... i think tilly perhaps sticks with the same players quite a bit and there are some who haven't ever really had a chance, but then he has more to base his selection on than we do and so i trust what he is doing.

Someone has a go a Tilly - Tilly has a go back...So what????

Yep and it's not the first time and probably wont be the last.Good to see so much passion flying around for the club, most managers wouldn't give a flying didgeridoo, but ours certainly lives and breathes it and has done for years.

So has Brushy for that matter.

What has Martin Allen actually achieved as a manager, apart from a lot of shouting and screaming?

absolute f**k all. I would be gutted if we remove Tilly for a plank like Allen.

Tilly is doing fine, we are in and around the play off's - this league is a lot tougher than a couple of years ago. Personally i'm quite pleased with our league position. Dont get me wrong i'd love to be top by 10 points but, tat aint gonna happen.

I'm not saying it is right or wrong , i'm just stating that what Club do you think there is out there which doesn't get on the managers back and hurl abuse at the players /staff .

You even get lunatics having a pop at sir Alex at Man U , with all that he has acheived , you'd think that he would untouchable but obviously not.

I was only reading on Friday how dave Jones at Cardiff has been recieving Death threats on his Mobile from p*ssed off so called fans , whats his crime ............he signed so called 'Superstars ' got the fans hopes up and now they are under performing .

I'm with you on this. I got enormous pleasure going on the Man U boards after our victory. The criticism of Alex Ferguson was pathetic. They were out of their tiny minds. You know the usual, he's lost the plot, he's clueless, never uses his subs, past his sell by date etc etc. All those who actually earn their living in the game must think fans are mugs (and a lot are). Tilly, John Still and Geraint Williams said as much on BBC Essex a couple of weeks ago. Williams saved most of his ire for those "on the messageboards".

I agree that Allen is no better than what we have....far from it in fact! The one thing that does irritate me however is this constant drivel that keeps appearing about how this is a much stronger league than when we won it. Personnel wise, Leeds and Swansea are weaker, and for the most part, the list of other clubs remains much the same...only in greater financial distress than in 2005/6 (just compare Luton then and now).

Face it...this league is just the same as it was back then and we should be doing better against distinctly average sides such as Carlisle, Oldham and Tranmere at home.

Huh?

Leeds weaker? Luton in this division? Too much sherry?

Just trying to recall a thresd where more bollox has been spoken.

Is it any wonder that Hammell is discontented? He came here as a full international fresh from playing at Ibrox and Parkhead to be playing at Stadium of Light, Walkers Stadium, St Andrews etc. One season and he is looking forward to trips to Gillingham & Doncaster over Xmas. I think I would feel down hearted.

At least he has not openly made his wishes to leave known (bar a drunked conversation) unlike other favourites such as JCR and Freddy. As long as he puts in 100% (which he has been in my book) then I would pick him 100% over Che Wilson who is a poor footballer.

Tilly has guided us to 7th in the table at Xmas and any of you would be liars to say your not happy with that especially when you consider the clubs that are in the league. So we lost to Oldham - Hardly crime of the ****ing century is it. Another day we could have had 4.

I hope all these ****ers calling for Tilly to go recall this next time we have a Little/Wignall/Martin in charge.

Thanks Dave. I was briefly considering picking up every part of this thread that I thought was incomprehensibly mental but I think your approach is better.

If we get Martin Allen as manager and Che Wilson as left back, we will finish midtable at best but may still find time to slide down the league. Allen's never done anything decent - far from it. I don't know how Wilson has got so much credit as a footballer for being essentially a loyal servant and a committed member of the team.

I sort of hope one day TonyTheKray makes a post saying something like "yep, I'm a col u fan and I've been having you on all this time" because most of his suggestions seem extremely destructive to Southend.

If we're 3-0 down then that's a totally different story. But we weren't 3-0 down, we were just a goal down on saturday. If Tilly thought that the 11 who started were the 11 best players he had available then why on Earth would he change that when he needs a goal?! I don't buy this "if it's not happening after an hour then change it" gash. Matches aren't an hour long, they're 90 minutes long. Look at the number of late goals Leeds have scored this season and I doubt that they are all due to Dennis Wise's tactical genius when it comes to substitutions.

Just a couple of weeks ago Mark Gower scored a 94th minute winner when people had been calling for him to be subbed and when I logged onto here after the game I was staggered to read people still insisting that Gower should have been taken off after an hour. It's just crazy.

There's an ongoing myth on here that Tilly doesn't understand how to use subs and that this is something he needs to work on going forward. The level of arrogance involved in that arguement is almost incomprehensible. The idea that a 20 year Pro doesn't understand the use of substitutions and that he'll improve and start to use them more as he understands the game more and begins to know as much about it as us mighty Shrimperzoners do....

Whether he's right to leave his subs so late is a completely different question. Steve Tilson's use of substitutions has no doubt cost us many points in the past. Maybe saturday's included. But I'm sure it's won us points in the past too.

Haha brilliant!! Or even for him to post when we win!! Failing that, just to **** off will do me :guns:
