SUFC: The Future The Takeover - Very very close.

Our hopes and visions for the rebirth of Southend United, plus any plans published by the consortium for discussion

Because he sees a business opportunity, get money out of Ron Martin and the consortium.
If there really was a chance of any money going his way I find it hard to believe he would have waited this long.

I suspect he knows he legally doesn’t have any right to any money/shares and is just looking for attention/throwing his toys out the pram because of this.

I've spoken to him on & off over the last 9 months. It's his belief that he is entitled to 1/3rd of the shares bought by Ron from Vic Jobson as it is alleged that Ron never paid the final installment when taking ownership of the club.

He says he wants to take hold of the shares and donate them to the Trust.

I don't know what legal advice he has been given (and what paperwork he has to support his claim) but our legal team (of 1 brilliant law partner specialising in M&As) has suggested that it's unlikely to be successful in court and that he/the Jobson estate *might* be able to pursue a debt claim.

All the relevant parties in the deal are aware of the situation and seem to be carrying on regardless.

I was with you until this bit. I find it hard to believe Ron wouldn’t pay someone he owes money to.

Is it at all just slightly possible that he thought he could just transfer them that's why he didn't rush and only now just realising the legal procedures he'd have to go through?

Or are we all just jumping straight to "he's a money grabbing tosser"?

I'm fine with either, just would like to be on the popular bandwagon for a change.

Ironically this was a 'known' potential bump in the road, which I am sure the Consortium are confident holds no tangible legal impediment to the acquisition. However for those that bemoaned the length of time the Those words are banned process took, consider what else the DD may have seen come crawling out the🐀 nest, bringing forth potential hindrance or future unwanted consequences for the Club. Following the application of strong and thorough DD, issues would have been subsequently removed or action planned how to deal with as and when required. We may never really become aware just how important this period of DD has been in not only enabling the takeover to happen but also providing the foundation of a long term existence for Southend United Football Club.

Is there a chance that this latest ripple could put more pressure on the Rats? Doubt it, but it would lower my stress levels if I thought that Mr Jobson was working with the consortium rather than just trying to get his name in lights.

Jobson Jr seems like a bit of a bell end. Like one of those weird rashes that would pester you when you least want it to.

Reading what Kevin Maher said it seems as if the takeover is very close Ido hope so
Do you mean this from today's Echo or is there something else ?

Maher has been hindered by the Shrimpers’ severe off-field issues since taking charge of the club back in October 2021.

And he therefore welcomed this week’s statement, issued by Justin Rees on behalf of the consortium, confirming a deal was still on course to be completed.

“The bigger picture is everyone at the club needs it,” said Maher.

“We’ve been waiting and the good news from the statement the other day is positive.

“The sooner it can come the better.

“It will be brilliant for everyone and we can all move forward to a bright future.”

Thanks Liam - much appreciated
