The Student Thread

OK feel a little dumb now, everyone else seems to be doing proper degrees

I'm at UEA studying Film and American Studies - not as much of a doss as everyone thinks, but yes I do get to sit around watching films for a large majority of the course

As my signiture suggests, I am one of a fair few UEA shrimpers, my friend even lives next door to the son of one of the boardmen for the club.

any 'degree' with the word 'studies' in the title is automatically scrapped by potential employers... FACT

only messing im just jealous that i dont get to watch films in my masters, we did watch one last year but it was about AIDS

That sounds...fun

Bottom line is I didn't (still don't have a clear idea really) have a clue what I wanted to do after uni so I just chose something that I really enjoy, plus I get a year abroad in America or Canada as well so I'm not complaining at all!

nicely done, a few of my mates went to miami for a year for their American Studies course and had a wicked time

anyhow.. back to the essays!

Quote[/b] (Alexis_SUFC @ Jan. 11 2007,15:38)]I'm going back on saturday for revision week and then a few exams after that. Got a bit of work to had in for monday which I haven't bothered looking at yet but I've already passed the module so don't really have to do it if I can't be bothered, happy days.

Alexis
What mark have you got for the module already, then?

I did some coursework last year, failed the exam and still got a high B.

Not a clue, just got told I've passed, almost certainly going to do the other piece of work to bump up my grade a little.

Alexis
Your marks should be on the info-server bit, the part with all your personal details on, modules for this year etc. I'd check on there, just to be on the safe side.

As my signature shows, I am an Essex Uni Shrimper, and there are quite a few shrimpers at Essex, which is great to see them on a night out, great stuff!!

O yeh, and im doing Mathematics and Finance, fun...

I went to the University of Southampton from 1998 to 2001.

I remember my first semester being a particularly bleak time for the Shrimpers, as I wasted what little money I had on booze and some terrible journeys watching Southend play.

I remember travelling to Mansfield at home, Doncaster (cup) at home plus shocking away trips to Exeter, Brentford and Cardiff.

To compound my misery I was on a poor run of form with the ladies, 1998 wasn't a good year for me!

yup uni is a good opportunity to get to some away games... worst was Rushden and Diamonds last season i think when we lost 1st round LDV... it was only 25mins away on the train from leicester but proceeded to have a run-in with a dodgy cab driver!

Well Kev, if your run of with the ladies coincides with the blues performances you should have been cleaning up the past two years!

Bleakest time in my southend watching career was probably travelling back from yours at Southampton uni at some good awful hour after a heavy night in Republic(?) to get back to watch Southend get done by Halifax and Gary jones in front of a handful of people...and the worst thing was I just didnt really care that we lost as felt no fondness towards the players.

Other than that, I was at Sussex uni in Brighton, not great for travelling to games, especially whilst we were cack (1997-2000), but remember going to our first game at the Withdean where Brighton scored a controversial winner and again I wasnt as bothered as I should have been given I thought it might speed up Little getting the boot.

My those were miserable times as a blues fan!

same here mate. massive project in for tuesday and then revision begins... 7 exams in 15 days starting 30th may, couple of weeks off at the end of june before a 2 month unpaid placement at NICE where i have to write my dissertation. this is going to be the worst summer ever!

also nothing firmed up job-wise for september either!

GCSE coursework is really stressing me out man. I thought my stint in Vietnam was bad but this is a living helllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.

I couldn't possibly imagine going into the high pressure work of pram selling... I just don't think I could take the pressure!

Bottom line when selling prams:

Greed is good.
Lunch is for winps.
Buy LOW sell HIGH.
You don't get ahead by standing still.

Remember these rules if you choose a career in the pram industry and you too could take the pain for the gain. :guns:

Thats the GOverment drug (NICE) people isnt it ??

Here comes a rant.......

They act like schoolboys when they deem in necessary to turn up to lectures (poncing around with their mobiles/laptops)....sitting at the back and giggling like fugging schoolgirls.

That's what me and my mate do in our late evening lecture. Whats your point?!

We only do it cos we find it more interesting than listening to the patronising git talking to us as if we've never switched on a computer before!!
