The Stewards at Stockport!!!!

Hang on was there and sign on the Womens Toilets saying that men will be going into the womens Toilets??? if there was no sign did they go in once??? if so they Broke the law.
and were was the Women Stewards??? i fort they have to have at list one in the away end

According to a young lady on SoL 1
1 of these "stewards?" reckoned someone was smoking in the ladies so he decided to stop people going in as belived this to be the case. It wasn't and the lady accussed of this wasn't to happy either.
Unbelieveable!

We should get Leeds and other clubs that have faced bad stewarding at that club to stand up and tell union and try and get there rights taken away befor the like of Millwall, MK Dons and Orient go there!!!
t-t, As I said my theories were "assumptions" only so whether true or not I wouldn't know.

According to our saintly Leeds correspondent, the holy Leeds fans had no issues with the soon to be canonised stewards at Stockport, so no you're barking up the wrong tree there. (Edited : please note this not a serious comment as I am unaware from my Book of Saints of any Leeds fans that have been canonised).

As we know Leeds fans are just the cutest of cuddly people. (Edited: No really they are all super. Honest)

Banning orders 2007/8 - Leeds 152 SUFC 8
Imposed between 9/8/07 & 30/10/08 - Leeds 66 SUFC 0
Arrests 2007-8 - Leeds 156 SUFC 2 (both split equally home & away)

All together now.........The banning list was upside down

So what had we actually done when we visited there fella? We travel to grounds week in week out without causing problems, there were nearly 4k Leeds fans there and they behaved well. The only thing we are guilty of alot of the time is not sitting down, we never have though and never will.
If Southend fans have been ejected for no reason whatsoever i feel for them but i don't see the need to slag another club off in the process. Perhaps some should look closer to home before throwing stones

My own impression of events yesterday was as other people have said - far more southend fans turned up than stockport had expected.
Two quick and peaceful solutions were available to the stewards - 1) expand the area allocated to us and this could have been done easily without bringing us anywhere near home fans 2) Allow us to stand up.
ToEllandBack most of what you usually post is good stuff but you have got this one wrong - if Southend fans had been allowed to be as guilty of not sitting down a lot as you acknowledge Leeds fans to be, then there would have been no problems yesterday.

if anyone feels they were assaulted they should go to the police station and make a complaint -

perhaps this will also prevent the CCTV dissappearing..

obviously Stockport County might find the thought of being taken to court a big incentive to seriously address the problem -

depends how you feel about it all -

these days we all take so much **** from big brother simply because of the hassle of standing up to them - I appeal every single parking/traffic bollox cos they are simply taking the **** - the amount of energy dealing with this sort of crap would be loads ..

From what I have heard from "The Horses Mouth" so's to speak..the stewards were very heavy handed and as Ken has stated earlier in this thread and Wino has pointed out, if we as the Zone can help with stopping any such future actions by any club stewards against our fans then I feel we should add the little weight we have to the cause...I know Apes very well and for her to be thrown out is ridiculous.

I have no beef with Gareth supporting "His" team...but he should back off from this thread.

Personally I blame Hooly for everything..he has that look about him of a trouble maker....Opz nearly forgot the smilie..;)

If SZ are compiling anything, it may be worth contacting the Oldham supporters trust... They had countless problems with the club and specifically the stewards.

A few points to mention from yesterday & in no particular order:

There were local Police there & they walked past & ignored a SZ poster standing behind the lino giving him the mother of abuse. He was eventually told to sit down by the head steward, but only after a hefty bout of shouting abuse! TB & the others must have been really bad to get chucked out if this was allowed. Obvious double standards, but I guess that TB & co are marked men (& woman!) They are the most obvious fans at most games due to there "vocals" & drum! I think they were warned in advance & I can hazard a guess by whom too!

It easier to contol a few hundred fans than 3500 by allowing the bigger crowd to stand, but why not move the netting a little bit, to allow a few more seats to be made available.

I hear you about us being so called marked men as you said we do make the most noise

But as for being warned the answer is no we wasn't well I know april was asked to sit but like already been said there wasn't enough seats

As for the essex old bill they was in the ground but on the other side from where we was,and Dick was in the little room we was all in and no help at all

Sorry but cannot agree.

Your Dad supported a team for no reason other than they were good. They were one of the top five sides probably at the time. The fact he has stuck with them fair play but he chose to support a "Glory" side makes him a glory hunter. Hence when you give it large about "we" this and "We" that I cant take you seriously.

You have followed his choice which I can fully understand but at the end of the day you have no genuine connection with the club and therefore are a glory fan.

My best mates Dad supported Man United as they were one of the best in hos day despite living in Brighton. His son supports Man United because his Dad did but gets stick from everyone for being a glory fan. Man United had bad times like you but they stayed loyal to Man Utd. Would you then class my mate as a glory boy or not I wonder?

OK this could go on forever. The way i would judge it is games been too, miles travelled, money spent. It is ok to say you "support" any team you want but its how you do it that makes you a true fan. I could sit here and follow us without knowing what shirt we play in but i don't. I go to games, shout and sing like a loiner. I feel the pain when we lose and it takes me the same amount of days to get over it as it does you when Southend lose

Within how many miles do you have to have been born/lived to be a "true" fan fella? Proper question

man u have had bad times the same as us have they?

Have they had dodgy books written, administrations, relegations, dodgy chairmen, court cases, fans murdered....

I am going to have to go in a minute, i hope that this has cleared some of the air. I have held my hands up and said that i was wrong to jump into the thread when i did. You and me are never going to be best buddys but i hope that we can stick to the very simple rule "if you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. You have got 10 years on me and a new family, i wished you well at the time if you look back. There are more important things in life than daft arguments on here fella

:peace:

Its fine, can you just leave my last post untill it has been read though please

This thread has about run its course I think!!!

Blimey, the morale of this story is to think before you type early on sunday mornings :D

The football Club (Stockport County) could be in the poop for this. There are a number of factors which contribute to the S (Safety) factor of a football ground, according to the Green Guide. They work out a number of co-efficients based on the capacity of an end for supporters, and levels of stewards training amongst others. It would appear that on both counts here that Stockport have been derelict of duty.

Get their ground closed Stu.

anyone else got an opinion on the stewarding / seating allocation yesterday...

thought that there was blatently too few seats for the numbers that attended and so the stewards should have either made people move up so groups could sit together, or open up the empty block.

i didn't see all that was happening because i was too far away, but i could tell that there were a lot of very unhappy families and fans due to the heavy-handed nature of their stewards. the stewards seemed up for some aggro and excuses to chuck people out, rather than letting the fans enjoy the game and get on with supporting the team

Worst stewarding i have ever experienced i was the last to be ejected for giving my opinion to mates and another steward standing behind them on what i thought of the steward who i believe was the head steward that people have described on here. I was kicked out for persistant foul and abusive language when i actually only said 1 swear word. Which i did argue with the steward kicking me out, he had nothing to say i then asked why there wasnt really enough seats for used he shouted at me saying do you know how many fans you brought down today well it was 395 and there are 423 seats in that block you do the f*****g maths. Did you do maths at school? Ironic i though considering he was kicking me out for foul and abusive language.

If the steward was suggesting that that left 28 seats available,he had not taken into account the resticted view caused by at least one steel girder.I had to move three rows forward and then six seats along to see the whole of the far goal! There must be at least 28 seats from which that offending girder restricts view of the far goal.Perhaps the mathematics wizard is not as smart as he thinks he is!
It was however beyond the stewards to come up with the solution of simply allowing the visiting fans a little more of the stand.

Right, not long back from the game, well a weekend in Manchester actually, so this is the first opportunity to comment on yesterdays actions.

I am as loyal as they come when it comes to Southend, and everything related to it, but I have to say, IMO and from where I was sitting, along with a few others who I was not actually with, the only people to have any cause to doubt their actions were some of our fans.

It was absolutely no surprise to see people being ejected when they were blatently not behaving as they should do. Everyone knows the rules when it comes to standing up, and some of the language, aggression, and damn right rudeness of some of our supporters means I am only amazed more were not thrown out. Unsurprisingly, some of the fans asked to leave, or in some cases escorted, were fans I have seen removed at other away games this season on at least 2 occasions.

Perhaps the idea of going to a game, supporting your team, and not looking for any angle to wind stewards and other people up is beyond some of our fans, but I have to say how many times do some people need to be told to sit down before it sinks in those are the rules at football grounds now??? The juvenile chant of 'stand up if you love Southend' which ensues at every away game as soon as the stewards ask people to sit down is just a bit tedious.

There was one instance, when a Southend 'fan' deemed it necessary to stand right in a stewards face and telling him to 'fk off' 5 times, and then wonders why he is asked to leave???

The most amusing thing was one fan shouting insisting a steward had assaulted him, despite only putting his hands on his chest, and at the same time, flailing his arms around so much that on at least 3 occassions, whacking me in the back of the head - I did point out to him that the irony of what he was saying was incredible, but it was lost on him.

As for the overcrowding, there were enough seats, but people did not seem to want to sit where there were spaces - well if you got in the ground a littler earlier, then perhaps you would have more of a choice as to where you sit, and who you sit with.

For the MAJORITY who wanted to go to the game, support the team, enjoy the afternoon (unfortunately, both the team and fans let us down on that one) there were absolutely no problems - in fact, speaking to stewards before, during and after the game, I found them all extremely helpful, pleasant and almost in disbelief at the behaviour of some of our fans.

There may well have been incidents of some heavy handedness, but in all honesty, I didn't see any, and I had a pretty good vantage point, but you tend to get treated by people the way you treat them, and on quite a few occassions, what I saw were people acting like complete neanderthols, and then throwing their toys out of the pram because someone had the gall to tell them it was unacceptable to behave like that.

As I said, I didn't see all of it, and I'm sure I will now be confronted with a barrage of abuse and vitriol about how unfairly some were treated - and there may well be some genuine bad treatment - but it's funny how those who only want to go and watch a game of football and enjoy themselves seem to tbe ones who manage to achieve exactly that.
