The Stewards at Stockport!!!!

I had a chat to one steward before & after the game. Before the game he said that the 3500 Leeds fans had been the best fans they've had there & did not a single problem.

Blimey gullible or what? Amazing.

When I spoke to the head steward I mentioned that as I'd heard the same. But I asked him the question "did you actually try to throw any of them out?". Guess what, he refused to answer! It's the old "hostile" crowd scenario that is well documented, we're not considered "hostile" so they can do what they want but they won't even ask a "hostile" crowd to do even the simplest of things.

If think that the saintly Stockport stewards would take the same attitude to Leeds & Millwall fans as they did to us, you been living under a rock for the last 40 years.

First let me say that I do not know any of the shrimpers fans that were ejected,certainly nobody that I travelled with so I do not have any 'inside' info.It may well be that one or two of the initial ejections were justified.However the heavy handed stewarding was well over the top.The targets of these so called stewards seemed to be young fans, that other older fans felt need to protect from the bullying tacticts.
It speaks volumes to me that that they displayed no identification and refused to give their name when asked!
They behaved not as stewards but hired in night club bouncers.........perhaps thats what they were.
I was disappointed with the view that this is nothing to do with Shrimperzone as this is about Shimpers fans spending time and money travelling to support the Shrimpers, and being unfairly treated.We should care about this.

I've always said we are All Shrimpers but we are available in different flavours. SOL / ZONE / TRUST/ CLUB whoever I, like Ken, Cricko etc, may have our own views but that's what's important as well as being all Shrimpers at heart.

Agree also. This is being discussed here, on Shrimpers on line and on 606, I do think a collaborative letter of complaint should be sent and I think the Club should be involved in this even if it's just by copying them in.

Worst stewarding i have ever experienced i was the last to be ejected for giving my opinion to mates and another steward standing behind them on what i thought of the steward who i believe was the head steward that people have described on here. I was kicked out for persistant foul and abusive language when i actually only said 1 swear word. Which i did argue with the steward kicking me out, he had nothing to say i then asked why there wasnt really enough seats for used he shouted at me saying do you know how many fans you brought down today well it was 395 and there are 423 seats in that block you do the f*****g maths. Did you do maths at school? Ironic i though considering he was kicking me out for foul and abusive language.

When the stewards are in the mood they sound like they were in mate, I really do not think that it matters.

Sounded like they were looking for an excuse to throw out who ever they could get their hands on. You only have to be caught up in it and that's your lot I am afraid.

How many got kicked out? what did you all do during the game?

the reason i was given for being thrown out man handling the steward but lets face it if they gonna grab your bird and pull her of the row she was standing in and drag her out with her arm twisted behind her back what was i ment to do? each steward had a different reason why you was thrown out,they told April she was warned to sit down 4/5 time yet they only come over once then the ones in the ccvt room (where we was all taken)she was told that was the case and she was arguing with them that she wasnt apart from the fact there was to many fans for seats.

when i was being taken out he told me i will get a ban i laughed at him and said big deal only one game he then said no we get you banned from roots hall again i laughed. Spooner was in this little room too did he stick up for any of us no just went off on one at me tried to defend myself but noone was interested, i know i been kicked out a few times but this time was a joke i was defending my bird.

i will be writing to both clubs and ill be asking Stockport for the CCTV of this as it wasnt on how they handled April and am sure they will have to send me a copy of this but please correct me if am wrong?

Shame you waited for the 6 04 i wa due on that but the woman at the virgin trains desk told us to get the 5.25 as high winds were expected and the journey would take a lot longer on the 6.04

clearly there was more southend fans than stockport had expected. if anything they should have given us another block along the side, if not open the stand behind the goal. this led to many of us having to stand 2/3 deep at the back just to get into the stand.

mid-way through the second half. i was told to stop banging the drum again, so i turned to a female friend & said "id rather ****ing bang you" & that was it, dragged out of my seat, drum & stick in hand & marched around the back of the goal & out.

the big ugly steward (you know the one, he looked like he had been set on fire as a child & put out with a spade) while escorting me out took great pleasure in pointing to my face & telling me how i was all mouth when with my mates, but quiet as a ****ing mouse when on my own. atleast 3 times he told me this. i was going to point out that he had ejected half my friends already, but thought better of it. i was also told i was thrown out due to persistand standing, to which i said i was in the back row behind a pillar & had to stand depending on where the ball was during the game. little did it help.

not sure how true this is, but someone told me at half time that the stewards were told by the f.a. to let leeds united fans (3000+) to stand throughout there match at stockport. if this is true, why one rule for one & not for all ?

Well it was actually a steward that told me that the police had advised them to let leeds fans stand throughout the game.

i was there and i saw most of it.
but i want to know is.
What is the Essex Football Police job then at away games??? as all three of them did nothing and didnt even come over to say hi befor the game or to make sure we all ok after the game, more and more latly they treating our fans like we not worth the time in day and who pays for them to go to the games and do F-All (Our Club or us)

Hang on was there and sign on the Womens Toilets saying that men will be going into the womens Toilets??? if there was no sign did they go in once??? if so they Broke the law.
and were was the Women Stewards??? i fort they have to have at list one in the away end

t-t. I suspect, & I know people are taking this up with Dick Spooner privately, that Stockport steward the games without police in the ground. Therefore the Gtr Manchester police have no presence in there unless invited by the club, which would cost them money. As Dick is, in effect liaising with the local police rather than the club, he has no right to be in the ground (unless there is a likelihood of an offence being committed in which I presume normal laws apply). I didn't see Dick in the day, but others said he was there.

Again, I assume, they were allowed to stand in the corner of the ground opposite us just out of courtesy. But noticeably had departed before we left the ground.

so the club would have to some rules as night clubs ok,
Well my understand is they got to ask FA and The Football League for the right to police them self ever year, so we should tell the football fans union as they have a say if a club can Police them selfs, We should get Leeds and other clubs that have faced bad stewarding at that club to stand up and tell union and try and get there rights taken away befor the like of Millwall, MK Dons and Orient go there!!!
