The Olympics thread

say what you want about phelps, but i think it's usain bolt who is about to do something really special in these games. i reckon the wr is going to get smashed

Reckon you're right there Jon - he's run 9.8 and looks like he hasn't even tried!

I'm sure theres going to be a "Becky Addlington....Would You?" Poll in the near future :)

There certainly should be a Sharron Davies one.

I don't think Sharon has much to worry about.

Believe it or not she's just 19 and sorry chaps, she already has a boyfriend.

Wow. Wow. Wow.

The most amazing performance I have ever seen. I've got goosebumps all over.

If that showing didn't get your heart pumping then you are clinically dead.

One word to describe Usain Bolt, incredible.

New world record of 9..69 seconds. Fan****ingtastic. He was slowing in the last 10 metres.

Stunning, but I can't help feeling really disappointed that he stopped running so early. Imagine what time he could have clocked if he'd been pushed to the end...

As the commentator said, surely the 200m world record is his for the taking!

Agreed, he was showboating in the last 10m, Michael Johnson reckons he can get the time down to 9.55. On that evidence he will also challenge Johnson's 200m WR.

People rightly slate the Beeb, but that was worth the licence fee for this year.

un fecking believable (jeff)... i honestly could not believe what i saw, amazing!!!!

The on-line coverage is awesome.

This is possibly the most incredible bit of sporting footage I've ever witnessed:

Just wow. He absolutely obliterated a world class field and jogged the last 20m and still broke the world record. That has to be right up there with Bob Beamon's jump in '68, the 4 minute mile etc.
