Soooooo...it's Dice K against Shields down at the Trop on Saturday night. And if it does go the distance, Lester will get game 7.

Bring it! :D

Don't worry, it will get brought. By holding Lester back for game three, don'thca think the Sux are admitting they can't win at the Trop?

Not sure by that tbh. Lester is good against you chaps, so if it went to a game 7, who better to put in there I suppose. Also, sending a guy out who has 18 wins this season for game 1 shouldn't be seen as 'admitting we can't win at the Trop'. If we were to adhere to that, Mike Timlin would be put out for 9 innings whilst the others play snap on David Ortiz's big belly in the dugout :D

Obviously I've overstated the case (all mind games now), but I think it's so vital for TB to win the two games at the Trop - if they don't, it's the Sux series to lose. With that in mind, I would want my two best starters pitching - especially against Shields who looks very hot.

Put a fork in them, because they're done

I know I'm being overly downbeat - but the Rays HAD to win Game One at home to win this series. Despite his impressive W-L, Dice K was considered number three by most observers - Shields and the pen did their job by limiting Boston to two runs on seven hits, but the Rays' bats were stone cold. Now it's the struggling Kazmir against the King of October - and all the momentum is with the Red Sux. I hate to say it, but I smell sweep.

Quite a high scoring game tonight so far. 5th inning, 6 apiece. Have a feeling Beckett will be removed soon. Will be massive if the Sox go back to Fenway 2-0 up

What an incredible game last night - I'm still breathless. Kazmir vs Beckett should have been a pitchers' duel, but the Rays managed to out-offense the Sux after looking totally impotent at the plate the night before. Boston still has the edge after taking home field away from the Rays in Game 1 - and they look a very very good bet to take game 3 with Lester on the mound. Game 4 is huge - Sonny pitches well for TB on rest and the Rays have been very tough on Wakefield. They have to go into Game 5 even - then it's all on again.

Game 3 in the ALCS at Boston - Let's hope the Rays get back to back wins at Fenway Park!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

World Series predictions?

Dodgers vs Rays

And IF the Dodgers win, well, the Rays couldn't have lost to a better side.....

Go Rays though lol!!!!!

Early days but Rays have the lead against Lester at Fenway. Quality.

Now Four-zip! Lester to be chased in the third? Take that!

Five! I want to edit this again.

whilst you lot are all salivating over the Rays, the Phillies have quietly gone 3-1 up in the NLCS, with Hamels ready for game 5.

This guy is so negative - his team lose one game and he writes them off. I'd neg rep him a million times if I could. He argues with fans of other teams for therir lack of respect towards his beloved Rays, and then shows them no respect when they lose one game. What a mug.

Respect to the Phils for dealing with LA - many observers (including both of us loz) feared that the Dodgers' momentum could be lightning in a bottle, but the Phils have kept their cool and their superior talent is winning the day.

But you have to understand why people are looking at the Rays. This is a perennial doormat, and they aren't just beating the defending chumps in their own park, they are BEATING THE **** OUT OF THEM! I will be cautious until I see the 4 in the W column, but Boston looks like a beaten team.

very true, the 9-1 was ridiculously impressive. you're right to be cautious though- the Dodgers creamed us in the one game they've won, but one great game doesn't win you a series.
