Wow, even an hour after he (unnecessarily) stated he was being sarcastic, you have taken his post seriously.

Anyway the negativity exists for good reason. Five consecutive defeats and half a season of relegation form despite a good mid-season base on which to build; a manager who gave every impression of wanting to be somewhere else; Payne and Bentley leaving is barely compensated by another year of Deegan; nothing to suggest that next season's tactics and team selection will be any more explicable than last season's; nothing to suggest our substitutions will suddenly start to have the impact that opposing sides' substitutions do.

We all know our results haven't been good enough and have no problem with those comments; what me and a lot of people are getting fed up with is the same lot constantly moaning about PB in every post.

I also find the whole Bolton scenario a bit hypocritical; he never once said he wanted to leave, yet Bentley, who at the start of the season said he won't be staying still got applauded and praised at every game!!!

That's because his contract as up. He has been a loyal servant, fulfilled his contract and is free to move on. PB, however, would jump ship as soon as something better came along.

As for moaning about PB in every thread, how about a single thread for people to vent their frustrations at no plan B, no attacking football, lack of creativity, relegation form etc etc etc

PB arrives at Roots Hall

PB : Why aye, Brian. How's it going?
BH : Not too bad, boss.
PB : Right, another day, another dollar eh, man. Sooo, how many players did we see yesterday?

* BH thumbs through list *

BH : Er, one, boss!
PB : One! Crikey, man. This is gonna take longer than I thought. OK, so whose on the list this morning?
BH : Noel, Stephen and Anthony.
PB : OK, well send one of them in.
BH : None of them are here, boss. They're all at Southend A & E
PB : Christ, man. Not again. That McLaughlin must have legs made of glass! .. OK, what about Cian and Luke?
BH : They're not around, boss.
PB: Why ever not, man?
BH : You sent them up North.
PB : Oh right, yep. I'd forgotten about that. OK, is anyone here at all?
BH : Well, there's Jamar and Franck.
PB : Who? .. Never heard of them.
BH : You got them in on loan.
PB : Did I? I don't remember that.
BH : Yep, Franck scored the other day.
PB : Oh that's him is it. I was too busy arguing with the 4th official. Must of missed that.
BH : So what do you want to do boss?
PB : Well, I don't want this to take all summer. Is anyone else out there?
BH : Well, Jason and Myles have just arrived.
PB : OK, send Myles in now and Jason straight after.
BH : OK boss. Did you want some new contracts brought into the office?
PB : No way, man. I won't be needing those!

Yes PB gets brought up a lot. It's a football forum dedicated to SUFC, and with his on field failure of 2016 and his off field mishandling of the 'will he stay or will he go' scenario, he is rightly discussed. Furthermore, the pro-Brown Brigade are just as quick to challenge anyone's opinion that does not reflect their own. Some of the criticism is perfectly valid and the points raised should be discussed on their merits but mostly adverse opinion is met by derision. We were promoted and we consolidated. Excellent. On the flip side 2016 has been an abysmal shambles on and off the field. I am completely convinced that the dressing room is as divided about PB as the fans are. That is not a positive with a new season on the way.

It is at the very least divided, maybe lost

Errr we also released prosser yesterday according to Cp

I hate this type of post, so disrespectful, I hope Hurst gets an offer from a league 1 side and rams those words back down your throat.
Hurst gave us 4 years and was pivotal in Paul Sturrocks revival of a club slipping into the Conference and hardly gets a mention on here, sad really. He has struggled since Brown arrived but he is not the only one. Not sure how injuries affected him but on his day he was a good wide player and scored some cracking goals.
I hope he returns to his best days and continues a good career .

All the best Hursty. It's a shame really, but the timing feels right. I hope he gets a good contract elsewhere, and who knows, we may see him back in a different capacity in a few years.

If its not positive why not drop it then? The majority support PB, but there is a minority that don't for all sorts of reasons. That's absolutely fine. But for so many discussions to be driven or coloured by a prejudice one way or another is frustrating at best.

PB is going nowhere, he is our manager, and he is the manager that the chairman is going to stick with for a good while yet. Another way of saying 'not positive' is 'negative'. And as you say a bad thing for next season- so why keeping going with it?

Yes I support PB and believe he should stay but I don't feel the need to make supporting that fact the core goal of every post?

Yes you are right. If we talk about next season, why mention PB? Or if we talk about the last season or players leaving or transfer targets or future ambition or anything remotely related to the club? You have opened my eyes to the fact that PB is not involved in any thread in any way. Why would he be referred to so often, it's not as though he is even relevant?

I'm afraid you are like so many, though I am not convinced you are in the majority you think, and if anything is mentioned or asked about PB, it must automatically be an attack. He is open to scrutiny just as anyone else is at the club. There are many, many posts telling us what a good job he has done but most fail to acknowledge the reality of the current situation. If he is to be lauded for everything up to Dec 31st 2015, he is equally open to question about the plummet of 2016.

Like it or not he has got something very wrong this year and patting him on the back for the past does not redress the present. The game is full of yesterday men but a club needs a man with good tomorrow's.
