The Echo headline makes it sound like Brown's going to be reading their palm.

"Cross my palm with 30 pieces of silver"

Always liked Hurst and remember that cracking goal he scored at D&R on boxing day(?). Good luck Hursty shame you couldn't get back to the form of the start of your time at Southend.

That was Leonard wasn't it? Or am I thinking of a completely different D&R match?

I can't remember any Hurst goals in the same way I can't remember any Mark Gower goals. They sort of merge into one cut inside and burst the net effort.

I hope he's doing it in the style of The Apprentice

What, in front of the tv cameras?

With Hurst gone, Worrall maybe off, Weston likely to go and McCrocklin a liability, then we will need some good wingers brought in. Hurst was great with Clohessy be nice if we could invest in a good attacking full back too.

Not sure this is a bad thing- they were all ok (and IMO pretty interchangeable) but none of them a real threat with goals in them. Mclaughlin has been unlucky and should be better next season- potentially the best player amongst them. We have Bridge come through and I would like to see us find a couple of good wide men with real pace who a goal threat- even if it takes a few ££. Someone mentioned Forte - he would be an example but believe he has had a few injury problems himself.

Not for nothing, but considering all the players are being interviewed today, there appears to be a lack of information coming out of Roots hall so far.

Maybe they've all been signed up and are sipping champagne in the Director's Lounge!

I think you will find its Prosecco..

What a disgrace how Phil Brown treats these players. Hurst said he loves the club so should be offered an improved 5 year deal

Damn shame, this. Class player who seemed to fit Mr Brown's required work ethic, even when he wasn't playing. Thought he would have earned even a year's extension at least, one which I'd have gladly handed him. Very sorry to see him go, he will always be remembered (by me at least) for the couple of screamers he scored, in particular the one against Brentford in the JPT, which was sensational. Also to be factored in to the equation, his superb crossing of the ball when he was on form, which quite frankly I thought he had showed he was heading back to with his recent performances.

Yet another strange one from Mr Brown, 'tis an odd ship we sail in.

Nope, brown will simply gave the pitch marked out again. He has had it narrowed once already, with hindsight that should have told us something about how we would play

Really. I had him down as an obvious choice not to renew. Been a passenger for 2 years and even when given a chance a few weeks back he looked a bit slow and delivered a couple of poor set pieces.

Latest Tweet:

Phil Brown will not be revealing any news on who else has been released until tomorrow when he's spoken to the rest of his squad.

It's worse than that. Hurst's outright refusal to condemn the manager is just a passive aggressive rejection of our playing style. It's obvious isn't it?
