Some interesting stats here - seems the 18-24 age group who believe everyone over 30 has robbed them of their future should instead be venting spleen at the 64% of their own age group who couldn't be arsed to make their voice heard...

Don't blame them we have created their laziness. They are so used to us doing everything for them its only right we voted on their behalf.

Farage is not our government, we weren't voting for him last Thursday. The EU muppets in Brussels might have it in for us because we are the first to point out that the emperor has no clothes, but who cares. They are not as powerful as they think, or as some like your good self, believe.

The only thing in the modern world that matters is money. That is why the MEP's will be overruled by big business. Yes there will be lots of hollow threats in the next few months of 'we might not invest' or 'we may move head office'. Not a problem if you Germans don't want to sell us any cars we will buy them from some one else.

What is vital for us, is we need a Politician and his team who will stand up for Britain and call the EU's great bluff. Of course It goes without saying Jeremy Corbyn would be the absolute worst choice for that important job.
Last things first - Corbyn is neither an MEP or a member of the government so that is a step further away from the EU than Farage so not sure why you want to discuss him again. (We need a 20 goal a year striker - 'not Corbyn then, won't last 90 minutes on a mung bean salad' etc).

Farage is not a member of the government - agreed, so why is he over in Brussels creating a toxic atmosphere for the government to negotiate in? Farage isn't standing up for Britain he is creating Little England, he isn't sticking up for Britain he is dragging us down to his level. He got what he came for but he has realised it was not everything he wanted and that the opportunity to feed his own ego has eclipsed any urge to do the right thing.

Exactly, so what do you suggest, a snap GE as soon as the Tories have elected a leader ?

Dave and Gideon are in shock because their standard, Blair type, pay day with cosy little job at a big bank is now in jeopardy. At least that part of Brexit must make you happy.

Exactly - so why is he there stirring up bad feeling?
Snap GE makes sense as every day we are in limbo the economy suffers. Won't happen though as the Tories are not having their leadership election for another 3 months and they call the shots on a GE.

So much of my time has been taken up over the last months with this bloody referendum. Really need to get my life back, got so many things piling up that need doing. The anger and bitterness I have felt since the result needs calming. What does it matter for having spent nearly thirty years of political involvement in England, passionately promoting the idea of the UK as an integral part of Europe and then seeing it just go up in smoke? If only that idiot had called his vote during the season at least I would have had next Saturday's game to think about.
In Europe & the UK things seem to be firming up. In the former no cherry picking in a deal, no access to the single market without freedom of movement, get a move on with A50, out is out. In the latter, Tory hopefulls drawing lines in the sand over immigration, Johnson continuing to believe he can square the circle. It's starting to look as though the unstoppable force is about to meet the immovable object. So, in the end, you may have to pay more for our mercs, vw's, camembert and wine. I'll have to pay more for my cheddar, baked beans and whisky (hang on, perhaps we'll wait and see on that one )
Just a moment of reminiscing before I finally go down to work. When I left England in '89 to live and work in France, I remember the early days, coming back every two or three months in my van to collect stock. The return, on arrival at Dover, involved dingy buildings, iron staircases, shadowy figures behind grilles who stamped your papers for exports before getting on the ferry. Then at Calais the customs official who wanted to know what you were bringing in......Pas de Jersey? (english lustre ware) suspicious, as though you had a kilo of cocaine in the back. Then arriving back home, the need to produce an itemised document to officially clear it through customs. All this quicky and happily disappeared as the single market took hold. As I don't come back for stock anymore, the unfolding events won't effect me in that way but I just hope we won't go back to those dark days of importing/exporting, as it was before the nineties

The benefits of the EU, how nice. Forget the millions in places like Hartlepool or Dagenham, its far more important that you wont have to queue at customs.

Far to many of you have a 'pull the ladder up, I'm aboard' attitude. The people left behind have had enough and now your boat my be swamped you don't like it. Perhaps you shouldn't have been so selfish in the first place.

and I thought I was bitter and angry!
It's coming to a point where I am failing to understand some of your ramblings, perhaps it's better if we both get on with our lives, eh.

You're drunk, right? It must be drink.

I would rather be out with a Tory government than in under Milliband. I would prefer to be in with a Tory government but it looks like that wont be the case so as a democratic country if the majority want out we have to respect that and get on with it.

Did you a) vote tory, and b) vote remain?

Either way, you're best case is irrelevant because it didn't happen. I'm asking people to choose between the options that could have (and did) happen, not a hybrid that has not happened. I'm asking people which is the lesser of two evils for them.

I'm not trying to have a dig, I'm genuinely interested in their answers.

So, according to the Times this morning Bojo has now said free trade with the EU is more important than free movement of people. So, he's now saying that we need to accept immigration if it means trading freely with the EU.

Brilliant. Of course I agree with him, but the problem we now have is that that won't be acceptable to the people that actually voted out because of immigration (although also according to Bojo no-one voted out because of that).

However, assuming we do go down that route we then have a bigger issue. During the referendum debate the possibility of Turkey becoming a member of the EU was raised as an example of not being able to control our borders. Outside the EU we have no right of veto to their membership, and would have to accept them regardless.

This seems to be appropriate:

Yes and yes. I don't see this as a strictly left right thing.
