Simple awnser here.

No TBV = No Atmosphere
TBV = Atmosphere, however small it may be,

You guys do a great job handing out shizzle before the big matches and deserve a pat on the back, without them i can probably guess that we wouldn't have a new stadium to look forward to.

seconded, don't think people were really up for singing at all yesterday anyway..

I don't have a problem waiting for a 'bigger' more exciting game to get things going again

Quite impressed with the attendance though, compared to a couple of weeks ago :)

I take it you were singing throughout the game.

TBV section is there for people, you and I, to go over and congregate to make noise. If everyone chooses to sit around the ground, which they're entitled to do (I indeed do so myself) then either make a racket where you are, or shut up and don't have a go. What the lads are trying to do is applaudable, and it WILL work at Fossetts.

Sorry no i cant talk ;)

Boring!! Everyone was split up yesterday due to the 2 end blocks having tickets for charity day... We won 3-0 so people don't have anything to moan about so lets take a pop at the main singing section at roots hall... We sung at times and the players heard us.. Ask Clarke, scannell and macca, who all clapped us when we sung there name after they scored... Didn't see them clap any other part of the ground...
anyway next game, friday night... Be good to see the east and south all clapping, we can hear u if u all join in.
UP THE BLUES!!!!!!!!!!!

It was an impossible task yesterday, with the makeshift changes. As Smiffy points out TBV is everybody, not just the West stand..Naturally at bigger games people get more into the rhythm throughout the ground..The away following shows this....Roots Hall will never be acoustically what is desired, but we have to live with it for now...The bottom line is how you feel as a fan and if you want to join in wherever you sit....TBV is but a catalysis for the future, we never ever thought we would create something huge at RH, we hoped 2 seasons ago that now we would be heading to the new ground but the economic climate has thwarted that....In the meantime wherever you sit and sing and support SUFC ...you are TBV and we are all one....Southend United...so stop the moaning please.

I'm getting a bit tired of this TBV thing.

Firstly, in this post OBL and smiffy say that the blue voice is everyone, however he then goes onto say how he misses one game and the place is quite, implying he is the noise maker etc.

Secondly, whenever we have an amazing show of support it is down to TBV, ie. southampton and donny away, however they didn't exist for southampton and donny had nothing to do with them more the fact that everyone was up for it and was a laugh.

Thirdly they are condracting they're only 2nd point on their silly little mission statement thing: 2. To encourage supporters to sing loud and proud for 90 minutes at all SUFC games, home and away.

To do this it would involve as it says getting people to sing who don't normally sing (instead of blaming the average fan for not wanting to sing). To do this correctly singers would have to spread out and therefore encourage those around them to sing.

Whereas at the brighton away game there were a few supporters congregated together, and making noise, but me and my friends sat the other side and actually got other people into the atomosphere too.
Another point illustrating my larger point is a guy came in and sat in front of us and seemed like he was up for making noise. Joined in a song or 2 but then toodled off to be with the other lot.

Poooooooooooooooooooooor

Jesus, I miss one home game and TBV takes a pasting.

Think some of you now need to realise that the guys in V/W do make a big contribution to the atmosphere. Lets face it, you all noticed less drumming and singing today didn't you?...

Do you want it to be that quiet every game? Didn't think so.

Enough of the slating, how about the rest of you pull your finger out and do something about it, rather than expect V/W to do the job for you.

Yesterday goes to show how much worse it would be without TBV. So how about everyone makes a bloody effort, rather than slate the ones who have without doubt proved a point, even if it wasn't meant.

well said
for some people the glass will always be half empty. It is always easy to critize

What is this rubbish? TBV is a great idea, it's a group of fans who sing and bang drums and try and generate some support for the club. So what if they were a bit quiet today, things such as this should be encouraged, not ridiculed.

At what point did I say that I was the noise maker? I said I was not at the game and TBV takes a pasting. The point I was making was those that were in W block on Sat, were quieter than usual through no fault of their own and everyone noticed it. Which says to me that this block does make a recognisable difference to the noise levels normally.

If you dont like reading about TBV or getting involved with us, then dont, simple as. Continue supporting the team in your own way.

the amount of whingeing on this board is absolutely pathetic. Moaning there was "no atmosphere where I was sitting". Diddums. Well get of your lardy arses and do something about it. Look if you want atmosphere sing. Do it yourself and don't expect others to do it for you.
Good on you Smithy. Don't let the ******s get you down.

yeah spot on. I've sat in the west W/X/V countless times and the atmosphere has been superb on most occasions, mainly because people who sit there, WANT to make noise and get involved. i think next season, Blocks W/X should be totally restricted for those who want to sing, not part-timers, go sit in these East stand, that should suit you more. When we played donny in the play-offs, when i went to get my tickets the girl asked me..."do you want to sit in the singing section, or the non-singing section?" clearly not a difficult decision, but anyway my point is, why can't southend do this for homes games? for example
caller: hi can i have 2 tix for the game please?
operator: no probs where would you like to sit?
caller: how bout the west stand?
operator: singing or non-singing
caller: non-singing please
operator: ok so your in the west anywhere apart from blocks W/X

simple!

You do talk crap mate.

personally balme the ticket office. as i've said before. for the bigger games i like to move my ticket to the tbv but the ticket office always says there not on sale in those sections so i have to get one basically on the half way line. never sit there. i usually jus go and find a space in the loudest bloke.

but for people who just want to sing and find it hard sitting in the right section isn't making things any easier for smithy and co.

i think the ticket office needs to sell tickets in this section on request rather than waiting for the demand to open these sections.

:stunned: not too sure what to make of that  what space do you normally find? ;)

So not much from tbv and a decent result. Maybe actually banging a drum incessantly for 90 minutes doesn't do that much for the players after all ?

Even though Tilly has specifically said recently that getting behind the players makes a big difference? More drums the merrier, IMHO.

Ba Humbug to you, Mick! :)

Maybe more chanting aswell. I don't think that Roots Hall has good acoustics and therefore make us seem quieter than we actually are. In the South Upper you can hardly hear TBV so it sounds like they aren't make a noise. Hopefully this wouldn't be the same with the new stadium!
