Question The Acceptance of Mediocrity

I think the success of the club run parallel to the investment in the running of the club itself.

The crowds we are getting are fantastic and I hope they continue or even increase but the reality is they won't if we just tread water in midtable.

We are in safe hands and foundations are being dug for a metaphorical rebuild, but ultimately success on the pitch is a huge part of what is to come.

It's a balancing act that is a very complicated one. Cosu have their work cut out.

This season isn't over, although it does look like petering out.

This time last year we were 11 points off the playoffs. Our league results have started improving and if anyone can't see the beginning of an upturn in form they must be blind.
Off the pitch, we've already seen Roots Hall improve, our clock works, the scoreboard is new, toilets have been repaired, new beers, burgers and we even signed a new striker today. We are not in court, not under an embargo, we have communication with the chairman and even a Fan Advisory Board. Lots of other wonderful stuff in the background coming our way.

Honestly Cricko, lean back and enjoy watching our club rise from the ashes. If you can't be optimistic now, you'll never be.

The whole world of FEAR and depression under Ron is over. We do have a future and good times will reign supreme with the work going on. I believe you'll see a decent performance at Roots Hall tomorrow, the lads will be fired up. Then onto York with hordes of excitable Shrimpers.

Mediocre ? This is Southend, drama literally lives here.

Are we ever going to be happy with mediocrity. I think this is the way it will be for a number of seasons.. I totally understand COSU's pragmatic reasons for doing things in their own way as it is of course financial based. Unfortunately this is not football in general as we as the fans want to see more on the pitch.

I don't disagree with that it is a long road but we do need to see the team progress and waiting for some sunshine window in January just seems another fend off .Then it wil be , the window is open and players suddenly have choices.

Faith? I certainly hope so, how many of you have it?

I think you are right, esp when it comes to the playing side of things. The signings we have made / are making don’t inspire me we are going to get out of this league anytime soon.

We’re going round in circles here - you think the issue is with the quality of players, or the way the team is set up? Do you think another manager could get more out of these players? Or do you think if Maher & Co get better players they will deliver us promotion?

Well I am pretty confident that the team that steps on to the pitch at the start of next season, will look somewhat different to the one that started Saturday. Will take at least 2 transfer periods to get close to what Kevin wants.
In my opinion Kevin had to set up the way he did Saturday, firstly to cover the effects of the sickness bug and also to nullify the threat of the Hartlepool forward. Sometimes you have to react to what the opposition have. The Number 20 was a real handful and the defence did well to keep him out.

Thanks to the improvement in fare in the west I'll actually be eating and having a pre game beer today. Two things I wouldn't have considered pre COSU. That's the basics we didn't have under rat already on the up.

Same. WS Junior and I availed ourselves of a burger and hotdog from the new food truck. Will be back next home game especially as they have increased the offering to include chicken strips and chips.

The revolution is here!

(And discretionary spend has already gone up... Hashtag sustainability).
