Thanks Kev - but is a new manager needed?

Should Maher go?

Let's see what happens at daggers.

Big performance needed. Can you imagine the reaction of fans if we get the complete **** taken out of us there.

Even worse that the players have to come under the away stand to get off the pitch.

Could be a very toxic atmosphere indeed.

Thats the exact reason i said make Currie the interim manager for the remainder of the season ,lets see how he performs . With the same set of players
That's even more confusing... Currie is more than part of every decision that is made tactically on the pitch ...

I get why you might say that, but unless Currie has a completely different idea on how we should play with these current players, that will make no difference at all

Currie and bentley must share the same footballing ethos as maher surely, otherwise every day of their job is just a massive lie, they strike me as having more integrity then that.

Which begs the question how can 3 people that have been in football their whole life not see all the things they are getting wrong (late subs, crap tactics, playing their favourites, **** formation etc)... concerning.

Come off it. There will be some booing of course but most of our fans are there to support our team not undermine them. Through thick and thin.

Quite.. how can the management team not know as much about football as the people on here? I was thinking the same yesterday as a particular loud mouth in the East was very loudly sharing his wisdom….you know the one who once helped sir paint the white lines at primary school and is, as a result, an expert. Why is he not manager? A shocking oversight by COSU…

I can see it becoming very toxic very quickly if we perform like we did yesterday! People have had enough of the football and the excuses!
If the players aren't available for transfers and there isn't much movement this month then why can't COSU or Maher just be honest with the fans!

I am not sure about this. In a fulsome tribute recently to Kevin Maher, Darren Currie said it was a pleasure to work for Maher or words to that effect. Maher may listen to Currie's input, but the Head Coach has the final word...One thing is clear. When Currie was manager of Barnet, his side had the reputation of playing attractive, attacking football.

Perhaps Kev should sit in the radio commentary box, he might get a better perspective of the game……Paul Clarke called it after 15mins that 3 at the back against a lone front man isn’t working and giving their 2 number 10’s too much space to work in.

If Clarkie can see that it’s not working then why can’t Maher see it????

Is it stubbornness, ignorance, arrogance, tactically naivety or just the security of a nice 3 year contract??

Probably all of those things. Seems to be detached from the reality of the situation and in denial.

This isn't a defence of KM, just a general point. It always strikes me that a coach doesn't get a clear view of the game from the touchline. If he were to sit in the stands, or indeed in the radio commentary box, he would be able to see the pattern of play much more clearly.

Kev isn't going anywhere, he's got a 3 year contract. I would imagine the other amigos have got the same. COSU aren't about to rip those up, it would cost them a fortune. They're about financial security and chopping managers isn't cheap. I still find it difficult that under kev in previous seasons we looked like world beaters, something must have happened behind the scenes? I really hope things get better because is here for the long term.

Torn in some ways.
But I still lean towards a purge of current team and a summer of ten plus players.
I will say it, Kev has more than earned a normal pre season....just one FFS.
His ridiculous points tally.of the last two seasons while being in the worst job in football and winning manager of the year.
IF we got rid of kev tomorrow and hired a manager that had done the job he has everyone would be creaming in their pants.
IF kev messes up in a good situation then bin him off. He and Tom Lawrwnce are the main reasons we have a football club.
I have no argument against how rubbish its been, particularly at home. It's been turgid, mind numbingly poop. Absolutely.
But we have literally seen kev work miracles with our own eyes. Give me.that guy over the players who have regressed this year.

If that's the case and to be honest, I'm inclined to agree with you.. the decision to hand out such lengthy contracts in the first place is a cause for questioning, especially at this level. I get that on one hand, it's to protect us from potential suiters but on the other, when goes go wrong, like it has done.. it's as you say, very expensive to make a change.
