this could be recycled news or something more worrying but alan brazil mentioned he was at a gentlemans dinner last night where ray parlour and alvin martin spoke...he gave no names but said he had spoken to someone closely connected to southend who said that the club was so badly in trouble that they could go "kaputo" (his words) and linked it to the inland revenue bill..ha painted a very gloomy picture and along with ronnie irani and his paper reviewer said how sad that would be for a "vibrant little club" like southend..he went on to talk about what a good job tilly had done and the good players we had produced like garner and collymore.. like i say it s probably no more than we know but to hear it on national radio actually got me quite choked

Heard this myself and it certainly struck a chord. Did not hear the mention of Alvin Martin etc. Just heard Brazil say he had spoken to someone linked very closely with the club and it is not looking good for us unless we can find the money owed to the revenue.

Personally I am putting my faith in Ron and CO to look after our beloved Southend. After all what choice do we have? We're in the S*** we all know that but I would rather not listen to rumours and wait for the news to hit the OS.

SOUTHEND TIL I DIE.

Seems strange how on more than one occasion "someone closely linked with the club" has revealed we could be done for...

Can't all be wrong/making it up can they?

Worrying times...

Hypothetically, if the club had to announce some bad news about its future, I wonder who would be given the honours of delivering it? Would it be Ron or Mr King?

 If I had been trying to win the "most pointless post on the board so far" award I'd b e hard pushed to beat that.

I reckon they would bung Terry Alderton a monkey or so to deliver the news.

He'd probably warm the crowd up with a few one liners and a bit of banter first.

Ron and Geoff would have scarpered in an escape pod/mini sub.

I have seen little evidence any bid existed?..200k Ron would of took your arms off for far less.

What evidence do you normally get? Do the club publish the written fax on the official site?

I would have thought if we named Millwall on our official site article and then we had Macca saying it was nice to have interest in him but not looking to move etc in a seperate article that you can assume it was true.

If it was untrue then I would imagine there would be some sort of comeback. If it was untrue and I was Millwalls manager I would be pretty unhappy and I expect I would have two central midfielders knocking on my door asking what is going on?

So basically one of Alan Brazil's drinking buddies has told him about the tax bill and Brazil has finally found out what we knew a couple of months ago.

Incidentally has anyone read his fellow talksport presenter, Ronnie Irani's book? It's gathering some entertaining reviews which aren't altogether complimentary of Mr Irani's literacy - or indeed broadcasting - abilities.

Its not exactly breaking news is it? How long have we known about it? Its common knowledge I would have thought - if we don't pay then it's 'bye bye' SUFC. The club doesn't need to come out and tell us something we already know does it?

I loved Ronnie Irani as a whole hearted cricketer, but as an author and broadcaster he is what Cyril Smith is to hang gliding.

totally agree- all of the above is common sense IMO rather than simply assuming the worst for no reason

Exactly, a bit of common sense!
