I have the pleasure, along with Paul Fitzgerald Chairman of the Trust, to have a meeting with Ron Martin on Tuesday evening prior to the JPT match.

We have a very limited time to ask questions so if anyone has a question we will endeavour to ask RM.

What answers, if any, we get we will advise the Zone and Trust members as soon as possible.

Is the rent owed on roots hall going to be written off and if so can we have this in writing

Why is the club official website not being used as it should be for info/news to fans? Why wasn't the fans told about the players released at the end of last season?

Is posting the questions on here giving Ron a chance to prepare his excuses? Then again i doubt it will affect the answers get will it.

That's a fair point.. expect a statement on Monday or Tuesday morning then :winking:

That is a very valid question as this is the one area that is always referred to when he discusses outgoings etc and the fact that he constantly makes the point that he takes "no rent" from RH.

I guess it is a tad difficult if you have no monies in one of your companies to charge another of your companies rent..mind you it looks good on paper and helps tax wise no doubt.

how long have you got for these questions Ken?
In probablity 20min of spill, and then you get 5 to ask what you would like to ask but him only answering what he wants to answer

How about asking him if during this difficult time there is any way we as supporters of the club can work with him instead of against him to achieve a united Southend football club so we all can get back to supporting the club and achieve success on and off the field.

Wouldn't it also strengthen Ron's position in the event of administration, as having the debt due (though with hopefully no intention of calling in) would make him our major creditor?

Maybe but if one company fell the whole pack of cards would follow.

What is the current expected start date for the new stadium? How expectant is he that this date, or close to it, will be achieved? Why have previous estimated starts been so ridiculously wide of the mark?

The danger in a 'free-for-all' approach is that you have a long list of questions and RM can focus on one or two that he wants to answer and wastes the opportunity. In my job we have to ask questions to pharma companies which they don't want to answer, and so they just give you an information dump.

To avoid this from happening, wouldn't it be better to come up with a list of 'core questions'. Maybe for each question proposed (and there have been some excellent ones so far), the question should be seconded by someone else.

This is a good opportunity and we should make sure RM has to answer the most important ones.

Why did they manage the Bilel and Hall transfers (or non transfers) so badly?

What went wrong with 2 of our major assets, both with a year left on their contracts, and how can they avoid that happening again?

I honestly think that any on-field and player issues should be avoided. Lets look at the big picture here, this a brilliant opportunity to identify some real pressing issues and throw them at RM. Hall and Bilel - annoying as it is - do not hold the cards to our future. I would like RM to have the balls to come out and say exactly how we stand. If it's terrible news, it's terrible news...at least then we can perhaps start to help? To keep the spin going about a bright future and a 20,000 seater stadium isn't doing anyone any favours, least of all him.
RM - How confident are you that Southend United F.C will continue in it's current form?
