Spot on hlane17.
I've just got this funny feeling that Lopata could be the final piece of the Jigsaw, signed on the eve of the season after a frantic day of negotiations!
You mean like Billy Paynter ??? Trouble was Billy was not a good fit in that particular jigsaw puzzle. Certainly not with us although I seem to recall he did us when he returned for Swindon in an awful home defeat a few seasons later.

As much as I like Murphy, I have a feeling he's not a KM type player. He seems to like pace, which is the one thing Murphy doesn't really have. If you have two up front and one is either Dalby or Cardwell then someone with a bit of pace would be useful. I'm not sure that's Murphy.
Cardwell do have paces too.

Obviously Dalby has some key qualities (hold up play etc) however playing with 2 wide players, box to box midfielders and attacking midfielders we need our one striker to be able to greedy and able to run through and Dalby does not fit the way I personally see how we are looking to play. I also think Dalby is poor in front of goal most of the time and I see him more as a luxury player. If you want Dalby playing it will be difficult to get another striker in to the team with our formation and will put alot more pressure on others to score.

I think similar with Murphy too - great player on his day but we need players who can play every game.

We definitely need a top striker if we want to do well in the league and just as importantly the FA cup where if we get a decent run we can earn some good money which is much needed.

I see Dalby primarily playing off the left, probably him and Bridge competing for that spot, with Mooney and Powell competing for the RW, and Cardwell, Murphy (or a replacement if moved on) and another down the middle.

Guys, give Murphy a break.

Very easy to forget an injured player. And yes I'm banging the drum for a new striker while he's injured... But that doesn't mean we need to ship him out.

On his day and in a team that creates chances he WILL score goals. And if KM thinks he can replace him ... It better be a bloody good signing.

Meanwhile,I'm eagerly awaiting his return 💪🏻

Agreed - I think one of our ITK posters said a while back that Murphy was very much in Kev's plans. Let's hope he's back fit again soon. On that note it would be good to get a heads up on the injury situation with regards to both Murphy and Cardwell. Not expecting either to be fit for the start of the season, but how much later? Also, what is the latest with Akinola's injury?

Murphy knows where the goal is and is a pain in the arse for defenders. I still would love to see a pacy, physical, direct striker incoming, they can keep the CB's occupied while Dalby does his fancy lay offs and flick ons and holds up play. There's still room and time to announce another frontman (and a CB) but are there enough pound coins left in the jar? Interesting couple of weeks for sure!

Totally agree. In fact after seeing him last season, both on and off the pitch, I had him marked down as a Club or team captain as he was incredibly infectious in his support of the team. That could still be the case this season.
