Will be interesting to see how it pans out. Whatever happens I would suggest Murphy and Cardwell won't be going anywhere. Cardwell played a significant role on our unbeaten run and I would imagine when fit he will play. Should Cardwell and Murphy remain part of the jigsaw, then perhaps Wreh is the answer or a loanee. Haven't seen Wreh play, but lots of positives from those who have.

It does seem a stretch to bring two more in with no outgoings, and counter to what Maher said about running with a smaller squad.

We currently have...

Murphy
Cardwell
Dalby
Mooney
Powell
Bridge

...competing for 3 spots in our current formation, plus Benton and Fonguck who can play in the wide positions.

To me there's room for one more, which is a difficult one as if the experienced striker is available that's certainly tempting, but by all accounts Wreh is doing enough to earn himself a short-term deal and would likely be happy to play an impact sub role.

As good as he is on his day, Murphy doesn't really fit the new SUFC approach.

In our forwards it looks like we are seeking durability (good injury record), fast transition play (pace/positioning), good conversion rates (chances to goals), and a good age for development.

Murphy doesn't fully tick any of those boxes. He is known to have spells out during a season, not exactly pacey and although he has a good goal record, the amount of chances he needs for one goal is not great. He's not getting any younger either.

I must say I am not a fan of his style, but overlooked it thanks to his goal return. If he can't get on the pitch regularly to knock those goals in then it will sadly have to be goodbye IMO.

If they brought in Wreh it give us the strength striker the club has been missing Dolby is a hold up style of player .Murphy seemes more injured than fit .And Cardwell is another hold up striker .Wreh maybe the goal getter we need along side Moonie .

Not seen Wreh play yet ... who does he play like?

And don't say his dad ... I'm a Southend fan and never watched an Arsenal game in my life haha
He is pacey, maybe around 5 foot 10, solid build and quick feet. Hard to compare him as we havnt seen a huge amount from him but the two games ive seen last night was a huge improvement than against Canvey for example and of course against better opposition. Last night showed that with another weeks training adn of course the Kettering game he has learnt very quickly a style of play and does link up well with the wide players, thats two assists for Mooney now.

Wreh seems like a decent (& fit option) maybe give him a year & if Cardwell & Murphy come back fit and firing then he can be loaned out for more experience

If money was no object and we were in a better state off the pitch.

Kelly, Wreh and Kacper in the next 2 weeks would be dreamland.

Alas....
I would just be happy with Kelly. Lopata looks pipe dream to me. If we can get another striker in and possibly 1/2 players in on loan to act as cover, that will do for me.

He's looked promising but if he signs and comes good that's going to be one hell of a find. He's only about 25 and already has had 11 moves in men's football and all in lower leagues. You would have thought someone would have identified him by now if he was going to make it higher up the pyramid.

To be fair it took Jamie Vardy until he was 25 to get out of non league and he hasnt done too bad for himself

From this list

Murphy
Cardwell
Dalby
Mooney
Powell
Bridge

If we remove the wide midfielders/attackers we have

Murphy
Cardwell
Dalby

Remove the injured parties and we are left with

Dalby

Yes, we currently play with a front 3 but if we need to change to a front 2 we are screwed. We really need another striker.
As much as I like Murphy, I have a feeling he's not a KM type player. He seems to like pace, which is the one thing Murphy doesn't really have. If you have two up front and one is either Dalby or Cardwell then someone with a bit of pace would be useful. I'm not sure that's Murphy.

Get Wreh in on a season long deal with option of a further year. Job done up front. We have two coming back from injury and I fancy we are looking at goals from a lot of players as opposed to a lot of goals from a front two. We have players that pose a significant goal threat and when scoring is shared about it gives the opposition a harder task at marking certain players out of the game.

I would like the budget to stretch to a commanding CB . I quite fancy our chances of doing well this season and would not rule out an automatic spot.

The headache is selecting the best XI and that is something I was never convinced about last season. I don't know how the triumvirate works at SUFC but I doubt there will be total accord on selections. We have the pieces of the jigsaw and now we need to see what picture they make from them.
