How many games did Coulson play the season before he joined us?

I don’t know the ins and outs of his departure, but I know some of the fans are gutted to see him leave. Maybe looking for a younger replacement, who knows. I keep an eye on Stockport as have family from the area, and the first game I watched was at Edgley Park, but don’t know enough about the situation.

Those ages were more a ball park figure as opposed to a hard and fast rule. You can have 20/21 year olds with more “football experience” than some in the 23-28 category, and equally some in the 23-28 category have more experience than the 30 plus. As you say, things like reading of the game, different scenarios and situations too. The more you do something, the more experienced you become, that is pretty obvious.

It all depends on who comes through the door. We’ve signed the likes of Powell, Wood, Husin, Cardwell, and loaned the likes of Brunt, Lopata, Gubbins, Clark & Neal. Bar Clark, how many of those fall into the experienced category? Does the loan signing of Clark signal that we feel the need for more experience alongside the likes of Hobson & Kensdale?

From what I’ve heard, and the names I know about, we can expect to see a lot of new faces, and a lot of the names I’ve heard are at levels below us, and are younger. Maybe a sprinkle of experience helps, who knows?
Hogan played 2439 minutes; Coulson 2031, so a similar figure.

Wasn’t Phil brown sacked recently from Barrow?
You’re right he has left - I’d missed that. It looks like they ‘couldn’t agree on a contract’ for him to take over permanently after his deal to the end of the season ran out. Of course that could mean he wanted a contract but they didn’t offer one!

Allegedly now in a remake of Steptoe and Son

Surely our main target is Lopata, if we can't get him back on loan. Offer Sheffield United a small fee with a big sell on clause. Build the defence around him. Make a statement of intent.
We know still def has an eye for talent so I'm looking forward to seeing the permanent signings and loanees we bring in for next season. We have to use the loan system, since maher still collymore etc the loanees have been decent apart from the ginger sex god from dagenham.
Out of the ones brown brought in dennis probably only one that did anything.

Those I'd like to think we're looking at: Penny, Lomas, Austin, Langstaff, Rutherford.

Not sure about Shaun Jeffers although he's absolutely smashed in the goals this season and previously at Chelmsford. If he was to come I'd like to think he's solid backup.

It seems to me that the confusion is the difference between experience and leadership, so if a young Neal or lopata lack games ie experience they more than make up for in leadership , thinking back of really young players who led teams to relative success, Wilkins at Chelsea a very young team he was their leader, so it must be a natural ability surely! Not age related? The master of signing older players with attitude experience and leaders on the field Clough and Taylor!
The concern must be having signed two players who have had a chance at Stockport! It could be they're not good enough to get us top 3 and similar signings may give us a good and better than last season! but still not quite good enough !
Positive vibes to all concerned UTB
