I don't get it. Why is Mussa seen as an attacking midfielder if he has only got one goal to his name throughout his whole career? Surely that suggests he is more defensive
Attacking doesn’t necessarily mean scoring goals. Dru was an attacking player and he never scored for us! Attacking can mean beating a man to turn, say, a 4 on 5 into a more advantageous 4 on 4; attacking can mean having the vision and technical ability to pick a pass to put a team-mate through on goal, like he did at Roots Hall.

Mussa is really good on the ball: you can still play the ball to him when he’s under pressure with men around him and he’s got the technical ability and confidence to receive the ball and the skill to turn and beat his man. He’ll initiate a lot of attacks from deep by receiving the ball when we look hemmed in but having that ability to wriggle free. In the attacking third if you give him space, like Will Atkinson did, he’ll pick your defence apart. If you don’t give him space he’s got the ability to create it.

He’s still young and inexperienced and I’m sure will make mistakes but his ability shone out in both matches v Weymouth. He stood out in the way Nick Pope or Ryan Woods did when we faced them. Now part of that may be he was playing at a lower standard - and in a poor team at that lower standard as well - but here’s a player who could go a lot higher if we can nurture him and he’s got the right attitude.

A lot of people seem to be getting carried away about Mussa and he doesn't even feature on Smiffy's page 1. Until he's on there, or mentioned by the recognised ITK's, I'm not convinced it's him.

The person that broke this signing is an ITK. He actually had a message that this move had been reignited before I did I believe.

It’s a name I heard a lot about, and so did a few others, very early and went a bit quiet. The last couple of weeks it’s really moved on, and should be announced soon. He has been in training with us.

Thank you BW2.

I will only ever tell people if it is a strong word from my contact. If you look on the Mark Moseley page I new before anyone that he had been sacked if you look for it I put 3 dots just before he was given the boot.

Welcome Alfie Rutherford

Someone else said he has been training with us, some bloody clever camera work this week managing to keep him out of the clips and pics 😂

Can’t you even confirm the position he plays 😀….

Henry, many thanks for the early heads up. I am sure I speak for many when I say it was much appreciated, as was Boy Wonder's confirmation.
Now it might just be that at my eye age I am now easily confused and/or it was my imagination, or, was there talk of a signing in the works before the outbreak of 'Mussa Mania' on SZ?
Did I imagine those signs, or, were they an early an early warning of the Mussa signing or is there reason to expect that something else might be soon happening?
Even just a hint from someone with their ear close to the ground would be appreciated!

Yes we are in talks with someone else however that’s as far as that has gone at the moment.

I’m surprised that we’re paying 20k for a player considering our financial position
£20k isn’t a particularly large sum. It’s considerably cheaper to pay a £20k transfer fee than pay £250 more a week in wages to an alternative target on a 2 year deal.

That’s why when Webby came back with an instruction to save money he paid transfer fees for Mark Rawle and Tes Bramble. Their wages and transfer fee combined were less than the wages we were paying Carruthers and Tolson.

The club currently has cash flow difficulties but payments for transfer fees can be structured - if the other club is willing to play ball - and potentially split into instalments or delayed. How accommodating Weymouth would be I’m not sure - we ****ed them off with the way we handled the Molesley appointment but Tom Lawrence is probably handling things in a more professional up front manner which will help such matters be forgotten.
