Post-Match Thread and Ratings SUFC vs **** Bailey's Team

Gutted. Absolutely ****ing gutted. A right gutsy performance tonight and no complaints about any of them (bar JFC), we deserved something out that.

Mildenhall, Francis and Barratt were superb

Baldwin, Macca and front two also did very well.

Scanell is a waste of space still - cant keep carrying him

JFC - fell hook, line and sinker for the fat ginger **** cheating ways

JFC 4
Watt 6

Patterson 8
Vernon 8

Subs didn't do much.

Brilliant performence, i felt like crying but the lads made me proud, 3 games in 6 days we just couldn't hold on.

Mvoto turned like an aircraft carrier for their winner, two consecutive injury time goals conceded, if only games didnt have injury times

I couldn't see from where I was but if he made contact everyone has been far too generous with JFC I think. Words cannot express just how stupid that was :madman:

Well what can i say.

I wont do individual ratings but i will say this. This team will not be relegated. For once i believe in this team. They worked there ****ing nuts off tonight. We were for the most part solid at the back and the front two really impressed me.

Yes JCF is a complete tool for pushing bailey , but in all honesty that was a disgrace to football. To fain an injury like that when gently pushed in the chest is a complete joke. I really hope the FA look at that and see what a cheating ****** he really is and hand him a big ban and also rescind JCF's 3 match ban.

If we play like that against the brightons and yeovils of this world we will not go down. The fans were great tonight.

Just shows why we love this game so much. Would col u get nearly 10k for a game when they are near the drop? Of course they wouldnt. We will stay up ? We are united again. The team are working for us and us for them. Believe and it will happen.

He knew it was his fault too if you saw his reaction. Looked like he was going to cry. He should stop trying to dribble as it takes too long for the instructions from his brain to travel down his massive body.

Just got back. I thought we were unlucky to not get something out of the game (despite Charlton having two cleared off the line). If we play like that every week till the end of the season, we will be fine.

I didn't see the Bailey decision so can't comment though if JFC did make contact, then he is a silly boy as everyone knows that NB will go down like a sack of potatoes at the first opportunity.

One other thing, I thought opposition fans were banned from the boxes? A nice set of Charlton fans were in Box 7 over the East Greens and were shouting no end of abuse (and were getting no end back!)

Mildenhall - 9 (MOM) - Fantastic and made three great saves
Francis - 8.5 - Had one of those games where he can do no wrong. Unlucky with two free kicks; first one a great save from the keeper and the second one hitting the crossbar.
Mvoto - 6 - Still not fit and caught for the second goal. Best game since his injury however. Had a guilt-edged chance with a header.
Baldwin - 7.5 - Solid, no-nonsense defending
Barrett - 7 - Played well but made a few silly mistakes which left us short at the back.
Scannell - 7.5 - Was everywhere on the pitch defensively but didn't offer us much attacking-wise
JFC - 5 - Played well while he was on the pitch but got stupidly sent off for a clash with Bailey (after we had won a free kick ffs)
Macca - 8.5 - Back to his best tonight and was everywhere. One great, clattering challenge on Bailey summed it up
Watt - 6 - Didn't do a huge amount and didn't look fit to me.
Patterson - 8.5 - Was excellent and worked incredibly hard. Scored a good, if not a tad fortuitous goal
Vernon - 9 - Held the ball up brilliantly and linked excellently with Patterson. Signs of a good partnership forming.

Moussa - 6 - Made no impact
Laurent - 5.5 - Made no impact (and missed a sitter again!)
Malone - 6- Made no impact

I've felt a lot of things coming out of Southend games in the past couple of years. Anger, disappointment, joy, despair..... I can't remember being so upset as I was leaving the ground tonight, though.

Absolutely gutted.

I don't want to think about money problems, or relegation or anything else tonight. That's for tomorrow. Tonight I'm just thinking of a brave and gutsy performance from the side.

A performance full of grit and passion, lots of blocks and flying tackles but I would question the defending for both goals which was very poor. Total lack of communication for the winner between Franno and Mildey, shame as they both had good games up till then.

I would also question the 3rd sub and the general disarray of the tactics in the last 20 mins or so. Malone came on for Scannell, leaving Francis on his own against Reid and Jackson down their left, and Reid made mincemeat of him (what a contrast he was to our left winger tonight). Going 3 at the back seemed to confuse everyone, Moussa was dreadful, the guy cannot tackle to save his life, and felt sorry for Vernon who put in a superb display up front.

Much will be said about the sending off, Bailey is undoubtedly a disgrace but did Jeff need to react? With him out for 3 games and Grant injured I fear that is the biggest blow of the season as our midfield is already lightweight.

Assuming we sink into the bottom 4 tomorrow, very difficult to see us getting out. To say this team will not be relegated is speaking from the heart not the head. Stats dont like. No wins in 2010, only scored more tha none goal once in 2010, no clean sheets since Nov, and the departure of Barney which is hurting us big time. As soon as he left I thought it was game over for us and sadly I still believe that.

Ratings

Mildey- 7, some good saves but will be disappointed with their winner.
Franno- 7, excellent game until Reid came on and he had trouble with him. Free kick deserved to go in.
Mvoto- 5, very poor, slow to turn, distribution awful, and shouldve hit the target with that header.
Baldwin- 7, committed performance, must start alongside Barrett in central defence
Barrett- 8, typical lionheart performance from the skipper. Here there and everywhere
Scannel- 6, did some good defensve work but never got forward much
Jeff- 4, silly to react
Macca- 7, coped well with loss of Jeff.
Watt- 5, poor, hardly broke sweat.
Vernon- 8, super display, held the ball up well and showed neat skill.
Paterson- 7, lucky goal but looked good on the ball if a bit lightweight.

Subs
Moussa- 5, very poor impact.
Malone- 5, didnt do much
Laurent- 5 shouldve buried that chance, quiet otherwise

I'm not going to waste my breath on the cheating ginger ****.

We've got to keep on looking at the possitives from tonight.

-The partneship of Vernon & Paterson, they linked up well together both holding up the ball and winning headers. I think they have the makings of a good partneship. It's the first time, since Barney's departure, I've had confidence in our strikers.

-Baldwin, I will admit as soon as we signed him and Vernon I was very pessimistic bringing two Scum rejects wasn't the most appealing signing's ever made. Despite this Baldwin continues to impress me with his whole hearted display's. A complete contrast to his centre back partner tonight.

-Francis, has he worked on his game defensively?! I was unable to make Norwich but listening on the radio Clarky was commenting on how well he was doing defensively and tonight he impressed me too. To be fair he got done by the ball over the top and Reid's pace but it was a good display.

-The Passion, all the lads looked like they were fighting for the shirt! I can't fault any of there efforts! I just hope these two games haven't taken too much out of them because if we perform like that the rest of the season we'll be fine!

Up the BLUUUUUES!

All of the lads deserve 9's and 10's. Cracking effort that deserved a point at least, again. Fans 10, especially W block who were awesome.
