These are questions that I've had for a few weeks now since I started getting this info. It wasn't immediately clear. They would have to have some decent financial muscle to buy club, 3-sided stadium, training ground, possibly part of the wider Fossett's development, partner with RM in the building of the 4th stand, inject working capital into the club with a strong playing budget, pay off outstanding debts, fund a full Academy AND make a difference in the local community as I've heard they feel they can do.Can’t find anything to suggest where the sorts of funding we would need is coming from. Kimura Capital hasn’t a great deal of substance to it. Is one of the hedge funds they manage investing? Are they they one of a wider group of investors whether via a fund or not? Lids of questions but no obvious sight of where the money is that I can see?
Barely cover the cost of the West stand onions.Something in the region of 3.5 Million I found online.
Surely it’s a bit more than that? That wouldn’t get one side of the stadium let alone the other three!Something in the region of 3.5 Million I found online.
Really wouldn’t surprise me if it’s pretty much done. A journalist as reliable as Matt wouldn’t leak it if there was scope for it to scupper any deal.Interesting that Matt Slater has been allowed to make this public all of a sudden.
Peter Taylor“Simon also has extensive experience as an entrepreneur having developed his own
accountancy software package to help small businesses function and report to HMRC.”
Should come in handy.
Who is Southend’s favourite son?
Leaking the news doesn’t push the deal through. It does reassure out of contract players/targets just ahead of retained list(s) being released though.
It might be a sneaky leak to put pressure on. Last I heard the discussions had been had and a formal bid is in and sitting with RM so they consider the ball to be in his court now. This could be a turning of the screw.Really wouldn’t surprise me if it’s pretty much done. A journalist as reliable as Matt wouldn’t leak it if there was scope for it to scupper any deal.
Doubt he will have anything to do with the running of the club. Just because he is involved financially doesn’t mean he will have day to day involvementI have no doubt in Ray Winstones ability to run b wing in borstal, but what does he know about running a football club? No that you need any qualifications or experience, Ron's been getting away with it for years. Are we about to get our own Netflix documentary?
They'd have to catch up on the last 5 years of drama before they even get to the current day, plenty of content past and presentAre we about to get our own Netflix documentary?
My thoughts ( and they are only that ) is that Kimura buy up badly ran **** business and turn them into ‘good’ and sellable business … you never know In 4-5 years you may see your man Nash againCan’t find anything to suggest where the sorts of funding we would need is coming from. Made me chuckle that the auditors for Kimura’s accounts are the same accountants and registered address used by Shrimperzone.com limited
They also have offshore accounts in Jersey too and have operations in 15 countries from what i could see so could the accounts be seperated between different jurisdictions? These are questions that I've had for a few weeks now since I started getting this info. Money could, as you say, come from hedge funds.
Laurie Pinto will also have an impressive contact book I would imagine. Not sure how deeply he's involved or whether he's just helping to broker the deal, but he advises some incredibly wealthy people in the States including John Textor (CEO of Facebank and sizeable shareholder in Palace, Lyon, Botafogo (Brazil) and Molenbeek (Belgium)), and disgustingly rich private equity investors. So perhaps some finance could be coming from some of his contacts.
Kimura Capital itself makes little profit on a turnover probably less than the clubs. They might have considerable funds under management but then I wonder why even a hedge fund would want to invest in a football club- and they specialise in the commodity markets. These are questions that I've had for a few weeks now since I started getting this info. I think that confirms it thenSpud pulled out in front of me from RH car park last Saturday and turned left into East Street. I thought he was there watching the Junior football finals. But...
Yes buy what does he know about running a football club? Seems like a reasonable question to ask? Some proper stupid comments on here about Ray Winstones involvement with this group and that he’s a West Ham fan etc. and what idea does he have about anything to do with football.
A) if you read the article he would be joining the clubs board…
B) the two fellas heading up the Kimura operation are Southend based and as a few have mentioned are familiar with them from school and past times.
C) if nothing else he’s a popular figure and has been a brand ambassador for several marketing projects I.e bet365
