Which has the biggest load of crap coming out the club Iv'e heard in a long time! 43 players and not one wanted to come here? Yeah right.

Whether or not you believe the numbers quoted is your prerogative. The notion that we sought to bring in players is the key point and I don't want this to revert into the tired Ron/Club mistrust debate when the discussion actually started out as one regarding how much credit Sturrock deserves for the position we find ourselves in.

So I logged on today hoping to find out how we had performed against Stockport on Saturday.

I find the "match report and ratings" really interesting, usually. And I would like to thank all who usually contribute to the thread.

But this time, there's been maybe 1 or 2 posters who have actually mentioned the match performance and/or the way our individual players performed.

Can we not reserve Ron-bashing posts for other topics please?! I would really like to hear how my team, especially the young players, performed on Saturday.

I can't get to the games, so Shrimperzone is my only means of staying up-to-date with how we are performing. Anyone able to post match report and ratings, please? Pretty please?!

Back to the game.

Most on here will probably be happy with a performance of a bunch of kids and the few first teamers that we had left standing. I was not impressed. I thought we were lacking any creativity, poor in defence and woeful up front.

Stockport are bottom of the league for a reason - they are a poor, poor football team with a shocking defence. This shocking defence had Hall, Sturrock and Crawford in their back pockets all day - not a single shot on target apart from the goal says it all for me.

No new faces, no idea, this club is not looking for promotion it is merely treading water under Ron and his cronies can build their business park and make their millions.

Barker 7 the rest no more than 4 at best.

Not a single shot on target? I remember their keeper making a few saves in the second half including a brilliant double save at close range on his goal line.

Do you think they turned us down because of Sturrock, then? Because that's what's up for discussion in this particular thread.
Err, no....this is a match report and ratings thread so I don't think it IS up for discussion in this particular thread.

It is my opinion..The bloke only knows hoof ball...Is an ok Manager with outdated ideas, but if shyte football in League 2 floats your boat , good for you.

Evading the swear filter, surely?

Back to saying how bad this division is. Of course it's bad, it's league 2. It seems every year we're in a division, it's described as a particularly poor year.

Twisting my words to suit yourself....stupidity. It just makes everything you post in future not plausible in any way.

You said we're playing good football now. I said Saturday was crap. You said you didn't mean Saturday.

Whose plausibility is twisting into oblivion now.

Given your recent take on a number of matters, I'd be worried if you did find my opinion plausible. Go back to sticking pins into your effigy of Steve Tilson.

I've calmed slightly from Saturday. Having made a 600 mile round trip to see the game I was sorely disappointed - especially with the first half performance.

I am delighted that so many young players seem to be making strides towards first team football - Ricky Duncan has done and continues to do a brilliant job. Losing to the worst team in League 2 cannot have done much for their confidence though. I am very happy with Paul Sturrock's comments in his articles where he has a pop at the older, more experienced players - he is spot on - I thought the kids worked their socks off but our first team players didn't turn up (Barker excepted).

We learn and move on. We have not been given the backing or financial clout to take this club forward this season, that's where we have failed - not on the pitch.

I did that Friday evening :winking:

I don't think any of the youngsters had a bad game. Asante took his goal very well even with a terrible bobble just as he hit it. I hope Clohessy can use illness as his excuse as Rowe took him apart all afternoon. Disappointed with Barker for their second goal but that was just a catalogue of errors.

Yeah gotta agree Clohessy had a nightmare.

Nesbitt was a positive note. I would start him Saturday.

Nice to see Ryan Hall calmed down after tossing that bloke into the advertising boards. Haha!

Absolutely spot on, with one or two extra players I believe we would have been in the play-off places at the very least, in what is a quite awful league

I just hope that even though we haven't made the play-offs (you never know)......Our fans will keep up the decent support for the following games like we have all season. Been through a lot our club and every Southend fan is loyal. Positive to see youth players step up, but Stockport honestly are dying to stay in the football league.
