If you mean support the team they love, then yes.

I love Southend as much as the next person but Martin has yet again destroyed any interest for the rest of the season. If i wanted to watch youth team players play for Southend then i'd go to Boots and Laces, not watch them by default stand in for Ron Martins assasination of SUFC!

Cos 8 or 9 players out with injuries or on international duty is obviously Ron's fault...silly me

...Hardly gave Sturrock much back up in case of these inevitable injuries did he. You cannot rely on the same 14 players for the whole season, miracles were achieved to get where we were but help was required which as usual wasn't forthcoming, blokes a joke!

As much as Ron has messed up the finances of the club, even without a possible embargo we'd still probably be playing youth team players, everyone is injured which could happen whether we were rich or not, covering the cracks with some loanees wouldn't help much as they probably wouldn't be very good anyway as we would be rushing a replacement in. We're mid-table, we might as well give the youth players some experience on the pitch

'In case' and 'inevitable' to describe the same thing.....'in case' sounds like they could and 'inevitable' means they will. The injuries we have aren't inevitable at all.

I think they were inevitable actually. The squad is not big enough, too few have carried the load and a large percentage of them have never played this many games in a short period. Some have played many more games this season, than they ever have done in previous campaigns as well. Not to mention the non-existent pre-season prep. There's a few other reasons they have suffered injury and fatigue, but that's for another time.

Nesbitt's performance today has put the final nail in Herd's career coffin at Southend. A very assured performance.

Asante took his goal very well & has a bit of pace, which is a bonus.

Harry, although not brilliant put himself about a bit & held his own against players a lot bigger who tried to bully him. Was lucky that his Beckhamesque (vs the Argies) kick out against some physical "attention" was only met with a quick bollocking by the ref!

Woodyard, second appearance was just as poor as his 45 minute debut at Burton. I may be a tad unfair on him, but he was not as good as the above mentioned players.

Stevens, I didn't notice him do a great deal in the 45 minutes he was on.

Soares, please go now, as its like playing with 10 men every time he is on the pitch!

What was the thinking behind the selection?
Is Luggy conceding that the play-offs are beyond us and looking to see what the kids can do.
What is the point of naming Corr on the bench and not playing him - if he's not fit, don't name him. Surely if he's named, he must get on?
Confused.

The club get a fine if you can't name 7 subs. So I'm happy that Sturrock named him even with no intention of bringing him on.

Is this a new ruling Scott cos I'm sure there were certainly times last season we didn't name a full bench?

That's very cryptic Smiffy......

First half we were simply woeful and didn't come to any sort of life until the start of the second half.

Those fans who are 'happy' with this result because we had x amount of players out on international duty or injured are deluding themselves. We lost to the worst team in the football league who have let in more goals than any other team in the football league. We could not manage a shot on target (until our goal) that's how badly we played. Yes, one or two of the youth looked quite comfortable - one or two didn't though and as good as it is to see them get pitch time, if we continue to play them for the rest of the season and we keep losing it will do them no good whatsoever.

I won't turn this into a Blair bashing thread, but he was utter rubbish. Crawford was headless. Grant couldn't get involved and was swamped a very mobile Stockport midfield. Defensively how we were four down by half time I will never know. Clohessy had a shocker, Coghlan was poor and Barker didn't look comfortable.

I understand the pressures that Paul Sturrock must be under. Not being able to bring a single player into the club because of the transfer embargo and financial ineptitude of the management.

It was crap.

Well we clearly need more depth as we are playing the kids but lets try not to forget that we did bring two players in during the January window.

But, according to some, you should be grateful that you have a team to support and watch play crap. You should be delighted that we have that ever so astute (albeit with a few blind spots when it comes to favourite and unfavourite players) manager (who no-one else would give a job to).

You ungrateful malcontent. Shame on you for wanting better ... even if better in this case would be still a way short of adequacy.

I'm not happy with the result yesterday but why point out noone else wanted sturrock, he's one of the few things Ron has actually done right this season, at the start of the season we expected to be in a relegation battle, the fact we aren't is a success. At the end of the day the play off dream ended a couple of weeks ago so this result isn't going to matter, noone else wants to buy Southend so we're stuck with Ron, I don't like it but I can live with it provided we still exist next year

He would not have had to done it at all had he not made such a calamity of last season with managers, players, wages blah blah..to give the man credit for us surviving this season is a joke...He alone sowed the seeds of the downfall therefore he is responsible.

I think I worded it poorly, I wasn't really praising Ron I was just saying that sturrock has done a good job even getting us to mid table with next to no budget

No problem, but TBH my aunt fanny could of put a team together to survive in this dire division.
