Well done lads fantastic gesture, brought a lump to my throat seeing that picture of all the great times we had under Tilly and anger at how Ron ruined it all. Steve Tilson will be back one day as Southend United manager for sure, as long as Ron Martin is gone just like David Webb was always going to comeback once Jobson was gone.

Top work lads, a fitting tribute to a great player, manager and all round top bloke. Not forgetting Brushy too, a fab double act that will never be repeated. Both are 10 times the man Ron Martin will ever be. The Lincoln fans are right, our loss is definitely their gain.

First post on here.. Seems Mr Martin didn't like the banners the the stand behind the goal!

Chopper

99% of this club's fans (and I count Steve Tilson in that as well :winking: ) don't like Ron Martin but some things you just have to put up with!

It was despicable the way he went behind the managerial team's back last summer and I'd say a good proportion of the Southend fans would take them back in an instant.

nothing new, just also wanted to say well done to all involved, despite the result, its seems a though it was a good day for all involved

Great work to all those involved in the production of this.

And whoever had the idea for this gift really deserves some serious praise. Sone might even go si far as to say he is a genius like figure?

Yes and the next time you have an idea , don't stop at just the idea.:whistling:

The top men never get there hands dirty Cricko.

Also I was planning on getting him a tumble drier so no extra work would have been required.

Nope I wouldn't take them back. I don't actually think they were the best we've had, certainly not the worst. The point is they were treated disgracefully, twice in Tilly's case when the service and love he had for this club was phenomenal. I quite happily spent a small fortune driving up there to say thank you. RM can't ignore the fact that on any other day we'd have taken 350 tops. Yes the result was important but as soon as the final whistle went with our play off hopes seemingly over our voices were loud and clear and I'm glad I was part of it. Now I feel we can close that chapter, move on and look forward to hopefully strengthening the squad for a full season push next season. Shopping list to include a left back, a creative wide player and a forward.

Well done chaps

The pictures look great. Proof that the heart of SUFC still beats strong. RM may own the 'body' but the fans are the soul.

Seemed a very emotional day. well done for presenting it etc. I will always miss tilly. Everytime I met him always seemed such a genuine bloke. lincoln are very lucky to get such a good manager.

Saw the gift before it was taken for the presentation and it looked brilliant. Top effort from all involved, can't say he didn't deserve it after the ending with RM.

A big thank you and well done to all those who were part of bringing all this together,
Looks fantastic, you have done us all proud and some great photographs of the day and presentation too.

One year on and it's 'déjà vu' (or nearly), for Steve Tilson. Relegation is swiftly followed by the news that he will lose six of his best players, who are on wages that Lincoln can't afford. This follows on the departure of Scott Kerr, their long serving Captain, who moved to York City. Seems as the supporters are not too keen on Steve's news, that it will take them three years to get back!

Here, the majority blamed Ron for our relegation and consequent cull. At Lincoln Steve appears to be the one 'getting it in the neck' and there isn't the history of fondness for him, that there was at Southend. For the academics, we shall see how Steve performs in rebuilding a side (all be it, at a lower level)......................................there again, will we?????

I love the way Kerr refers to 'great managers like Keith Alexander'. Was that the same chap Tilly beat in the play-offs?

You are talking about one game. Kerr obviously had great affection for Alexander, god rest his soul, the same way that many fans here have a great affection for Tilson. It's all relative at the end of the day.
