Stadium work to start in 4 months, I hope.

If it starts in 4 months, then a Contractor would have been signed up long ago, and from what I hear on the industry grapevine, this isn't altogether certain. A project of this scale and with the overwhelming number of specialist sub-contractors likely to be involved requires many months of preparation from any Contractor, no matter how big. Nobody seems to be mentioning the site strip, which, judging by the almighty amount of crap on FF will take bloody ages. Before this happens, none of the builders' work can even start.

There has already been scaling down, its not being built as the permission in place currently stands, IIRC the planning application was amended to allow for just the three sides to be built .

Any plans for the 4th Stand will be a scaling up from the current permission of no 4th stand !

True.

Will be interesting to see though if the 4th stand plans are scaled down from the decent looking 2 tier, 8,000 capacity stand. With Hotel, Restaurant etc etc.

I agree.

The land needs to be cleared and an access road provided from Eastern Ave, next to Waitrose running North to Fossetts Way (Part of the S106 agreement) before works can even start. When we see that happening, then things are moving forward.

The 4th stand was the clubs "revenue stream" at the very outset , any compromise in the build will have a knock on effect for future income for the club.
Unfortunately it would seem that the lengthy delays have resulted in the money earmarked for the 4th stand may have been used to underpin the club, so the funds to assist in our future income have been used ensure the future is still there.

As that road will be going through B&L does that mean that the new training pitches will be the first thing to be started ?

oh dear, oh dear, oh flippin dear.... Work will not begin in 4 months.... Me loosing complete faith is just days away ;)

That was a Rochford Council planning thing, which I have heard nothing about for years.

I doubt it....you'd want to get all heavy civils works out of the way first before even contemplating working on ground prep and seeding for pitches. They will no doubt be left till the latter part of the build programme.
The topography of the land at FF, the sheer level of dense vegetation and likely requirement to divert major utilities routes across the site (although some may have possibly been done already) will mean that nobody will see any obvious building work going on for at least a couple of months I'd have thought.

The training pitches were not even part of Fossetts but over the other side of the road.. I think that dream is long gone.

If they give the green light next week there is nothing Ron will be able to blame them for it if work doesnt start.

And thats what I mean. Pressing them into giving the green light next week. I'm sure they will do and then more pressure will be heaped on Ron to finally deliver. As you say at the point of having the green light he'll have no-one to blame if he doesn't deliver.

Well, we're on the 4th page (this may even appear on the 5th) ...... and I can hardly see a single positive comment.

Ah! You say. We've been here before and can you blame us etcetera.

Oh well, here goes.

Hurrah!
Work starts in 4 months. Brilliant!
A new ground!
Come on! I can't wait!

Believe it when I see it. Am I right in thinking that the deadline for any legal challenges is next week?

As far as the planning for FF is yes you are correct July the 10th. The shops in Vic Ave could still kick up a fuss though if it goes to CPO's, although I don't know if that would delay Sainsburys in coughing up the money for the 3 sided thing.

RM states in The Echo, "The only thing that could delay anything would be a legal challenge from a third party. If someone were to judicially review the planning permission that would stop building but they would need to have legal grounds to do so, but we are confidant everything has been covered".

All very valid points - and there has to be concern.

However the Chairman announces work should start in 4 months (after untold years) and 59 posts ..not one positive.

There are plenty of comments that the club and council will get "stiffed". Don't you think the council have some kind of assrances built in? They are not totally stupid.

I agree there is a degree of "will it ever happen" after all this time. But come on..Southend Council are not as gullible as so many appear to believe.

Lets just see. I will be hoping for 59 slices of humble pie!
