Stadium work to start in 4 months, I hope.

It's simple,

Build a sensible stadium complete with main stand,Maybe that is too simple though.

Why build and pay for a 4 sided stadium when you only have to build a 3 sided one paid for by Sainsburys.

Unless you get someone else to fund the 4th stand. Who would do that though ....

A 4 sided stadium paid for by Sainsbury would have been even better.

I agree 100% but that would mean re-planning the whole project and scaling it down..RM does not have that sort of time to wait.

Indeed, but shame it wasnt his strategy at the outset. Either he has overreached, or he didnt know how much helpd Sainsbury were going to give him when he started it all.

Excuse me for being a bit simple. But just how is the retail side going to finance the build of the 4th stand?

It is going to take years for that to be built (if ever) and turning a profit.

If I remember rightly we are talking £20m or so to build that stand.

But as it appears the plans need to be approved AGAIN. That would suggest there has been some scaling down.

I have no idea mate, that is what makes it all very iffy IMO..How are we going to survive the next 4/5 years once we are off RH and Sainsburys no longer have any need to help us? A 3 sided stadium is hardly going to fill the coffers. Will RM still want to continue juggling money he doesn't have without good old Sainsburys to back him?

It's not all. Please explain.

RM's plans are flawed with the proposed stadium far too big(please no talk of progress or lack of) and the main stand in disarray ,If a big city club like Coventry can get into major problems what chance have we got for survival.

Sainsbury should instead of building the 3 sides build the complete thing even if the capacity was 10000.

Coventry aren't struggling because of the size, but because the rent is around £2m a year. How would a stadium that is smaller than our current one help us?

City have a far larger fan base than us and with all their support they could not afford the rent,Ron sets the rent to whatever sum he choose's,Will this club survive,..No chance.

so does this mean that we have signed contracts with a construction company to actually build it ? I don't recall seeing that being announced

Why would he set the rent high? He will make money from the rest of the development, not from the stadium. If he is expecting to charge rent at a club that is losing money, then he deserves to go bankrupt.

I'm not sure what he will gain from ruining the club. I bet most of the money he made from selling Roots Hall has gone straight into the club to pay off bills.

Rent is a complete non-issue, IMO.

There's a lot of genuine concerns about the business model once Sainsburys have Roots Hall, but rent is a long way down the list. The Coventry situation is nothing like ours.

There has already been scaling down, its not being built as the permission in place currently stands, IIRC the planning application was amended to allow for just the three sides to be built .

Any plans for the 4th Stand will be a scaling up from the current permission of no 4th stand !
