We must just go out and attack teams from the off at home, don't matter who we play as we need points at home first, anything after that is a bonus, win our home games and we stay up:thumbsup:

True, we all have our individualopinions on starting formations, But i think PB will put out the best formation that he thinks best at the time, and will adapt it as and when needed, should we go down a goal or 2-0 up.

We must make Roots hall a fortress this season, and with our voices we can help make this happen, and any other points on the road are naturally a bonus! Thats make the 53 points as soon as possible.

Timlin has to start, although he did seem a bit off the pace last night which is understandable having no game time against Fleetwood. I really want to see how him and Wordworth play together. Where that leaves Leonard though, who however he plays never finds himself out the side, is a difficult one to solve. Regarding the wingers, Brown does like to swap them quite frequently during a game, so for me that rules out Timlin playing from the left. If he remains on the left then no problem. Worrall has to play too. When we sign Mclaughlin, they would be my preffered starters. Always is difficult at the beginning of the season trying to pick a line-up, especially with new players. In a months time, I'm sure the picture will become a bit clearer.

I would like to see the same forward like Vs Brighton. But who know, we would end up bringing someone with paces to go with Mooney, Pigs or Hunt.

To win on Sat, we need to kick Bradshaw up in the air or put him off the pitch!

Oh Murkey, you do have a way with words!

I do actually want to see Mooney and Pigott so am happy for Hunt to be the sub for this one, give his poor old legs a chance to recover a bit. I am not convinced about midfield, we are forcing last season's best two midfielders (Tims and Lenny) to play out of position, I am guessing Tims isn't too happy, he was rowing with a few people on the pitch last night.

A classic FM 352 formation

Bentley
Bolger Barrett Prosser
Leonard Deegan Timlin Coker
Wordsworth
Hunt Pigott

The last mention I had of Hunt was that he had an ice pack on his ankle following the game last night.......probably the reason he came off. Perhaps we should consider who we'd have up front, if Hunt doesn't make it for Saturday.

Last time Southend played Warsaw in the league at home and we lost was way back in January 1998

That can't be right can it?

I seem to remember an evening game as we were battling against relegation and we won something like 3-0 with Moussa having a great night ...... or is that just my memory? Or was that the game that Moussa got sent off? I just can't remember the details .............

Last time Southend played Walsall was at roots hall was in the Capital One Cup (12th August 2014) we lost 2-1

League wise we seem to have a good record .... only losing once in 8 meetings since 2005. so it seems to be a bit of a good omen for us.

Im going for a Bentley clean sheet and a 2-0 win for southend (of course)
UTB

Yeah 5-2 at their place, remember it well unfortunately!

Should be a good game and a good atmosphere, think we have enough about us to get the 3 points.

Yeah that was the end polio game where we wore the purple kits. But we won 3-0 we didn't lose which was what he was talking about.

PB will have a plan and in PB we trust! Deegan went from not being in the squad saturday to starting on tuesday (and a great job he did too) so will be very interesting to see who starts. I would be surprised if Tims is out on the wing again and really ****ed off if the Pig was dropped

Bentley
White, Bolger, Barrett, Coker
Worrall, Wordsworth, Timlin, Weston
Hunt, Pigott

Subs: T. Smith, Prosser, Deegan, Leonard, Hurst, Payne, Mooney

I'm still not convinced we are going to score goals. That most treasured commodity of a good goal scorer is still something we lack imo. Lots of good play and the usual excellent shape and obscene commitment from every player.

And there's the rub. Last season we struggled to score more than 1 or 2 in most games and got by through hanging on to 1 goal leads. I asked the question in another thread as to whether our front line now has goals in it. So far people are saying yes, we shall see. I think it will be down to confidence this season. We have some very talented newcomers so maybe we will score loads. I shall see for myself on Saturday.

Just to add to my post above ...maybe matching Cambridge contract for Corr would have been worth it

He's done and gone. I reckon now that he had made his mind up straight after Wembley and would have gone regardless of what we offered him.

Easy to say without knowing what we/they offered. If we offered him £2k a week and Cambridge offered £4k a week, then absolutely no way should we have been matching it. Hunt and Pigott should hopefully form a good partnership, with Mooney as competition. From what I've seen so far of Mooney (which is limited), I'd probably rather have Barry, but if Mooney is half the wages then it's good business.
