Back to the football, it appears Kightly is fit and available for Walsall on Saturday. IF the game is on, and IF he is fully fit then he goes into my starting line up on the left replacing Harrison.

Which is good news.

How likely is the game looking currently? 50/50?

Medium

Mad that a few miles down the rd here in Chelmsford there is no snow on the ground, had a couple of quick flurries but nothing has settled

The covers are on the pitch and the club are asking for volunteers to help shift the snow off the covers on Friday morning.

The weather forecast is for light snow on Friday and the temperature rising a few degrees on Saturday reaching a mediterranean 4°c by kick-off. So 50/50 sounds about right.

Was the same in something like 1986 ....... the snow clouds came up the Thames and dumped their load along the north bank. I seem to remember something like 2 to 3 foot of snow. Marvellous. :hello:

The Bury stadium announcer also called him Cocker when he read the team out a couple of weeks back
Since i saw Joe Cocker in his mad dogs and englishman tour way back in the late 60s in melbourne he has always been one of my all time great singers too ,what a legend.:Worthy:

The main problem will be the South stand end where the sun dosnt seem to get to much, that will be frozen for days, the pitch needs to be cleared ASAP and the heaters put on it for long periods or the game ain't got a chance especially with more snow forecast as well:omg:

Might have been after this game, against Peterborough?

I certainly remember a game around that time where it was so cold on the North Bank I asked my Dad if we could leave after about 15 minutes. And I've a feeling the snow came down that night and we had about a foot of the stuff come Sunday morning.

At Espanyol's game with R.Madrid last night, my Cambridge United supporting mate was telling me that the covers are on for their big game against Luton on Saturday but they won't be removed until Saturday morning.Makes more sense I'd have though, unless we're thinking of an early postponement, already.

Can't see this match taking place on Saturday unfortunately. I'd be very pleased to be proved wrong because I'm worried that we've already lost our momentum, another postponement won't help.......

Well I hope the ref has a good early look at the pitch Don't want to travel from Suffolk only for the game to be called off last mins last last sataday

With the snow on top of the covers, it will actually help to insulate the pitch and keep it warmer than if you were to remove it. But, with more snow forecast then you have the issue of clearing it off the covers if it hasn't cleared/melted by Saturday. It would be madness to remove covers or clear away snow before Sat with more freezing temps forecast. Furthermore you have the public safety issues of snow/ice around the stadium entrances/exits, car park etc. My guess is at best, 50-50 this game goes ahead, assuming the forecast for the rest of the week is accurate.

"Already lost our momentum"? Oh yeah - one game without a win and that was a draw.

I predict a postponement, not the pitch but the surrounding areas, car park, approach roads etc.
