If Miley was to return it would be Morton making way I imagine. I’ve been impressed with Morton recently, and he certainly deserves a spot in the starting lineup more than Husin. But it hasn’t really worked when him and Miley have played together.
I agree but I also think Noor won’t be dropped until Cav is back because a Morton/KAF/Coker midfield would be too inexperienced and lightweight.

The other question would be who would play left central midfield. Noor gets moved all over the place by Maher as Maher trusts him. His willingness and versatility to play all four of the midfield diamond roles is an underrated part of why his form is suffering IMO. I don’t think he’s as effective in LCM but he might still be more effective than any of our other options at that spot, as the reverberations from not keeping Fonguck continue to be felt.

Last year Noor played the majority of his games at RCM with Wes or occasionally and not particularly successfully Morton at LCM. He also filled in for Miley at DCM but had a long run of games in that position that let him build up partnerships with those around him. This year his role has changed on an almost game by game basis: filling in at DCM for the odd game here and there; moving to Wes’ old LCM spot to partner Coker; then partnering the much more attacking minded Moncur; then partnering KAF for a few games, then Wednesday night switching from LCM back alongside Coker to RCM when Bridge came on before then switching back to LCM when KAF came on. He’s had very little stability and very little time in his best position of RCM. He hasn’t been at his best but I think we need to appreciate more what his versatility gives to the coach and the rest of the squad.

SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher is determined to make Roots Hall a tough place for opposing teams, starting with Saturday’s clash against Tamworth.

The Shrimpers take on the newly promoted Lambs for the first time in their history this weekend unbeaten in their last three outings, all away from home.

But Maher now wants the improved run of results to continue.

“It’s been a difficult period with three away games but we’ve got good results on some good, slick pitches which has seemed to suit us,” said Maher.

“It’s important to get back to Roots Hall and have similar now.

“We’ve got to produce at home and get the crowd with us.

“We’ve got to make it difficult for the opposition when they come to Roots Hall.

“We’ve got to give the crowd something as well and work together to make it a really tough place.

“We’ve got to get back to that.”

Blues have bounced back well since their last home defeat, suffered against Maidenhead at the start of October.

Maher’s side secured back to back wins on the road before Wednesday night’s 0-0 at Aldershot Town.

But he is expecting 12th placed Tamworth to be tough to beat.

“We end the week with another tough one now against a team who really ask questions,” said Maher.

“We’ll have to be at our best and it’s a really tough challenge.”

Blues, who have lost their last three home games, head into Saturday's match sitting15th in the table.

SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher is unsure if midfielder George Moncur will be fit enough to feature against Tamworth tomorrow.

Moncur missed Wednesday night's 0-0 draw at Aldershot Town with a groin problem.

And Maher will be making another late check on the 31-year-old's fitness.

“There’s something at the top of his hip, around the groin region so we couldn’t risk him on Wednesday,” said Maher.

“We’ll have to see how he settles down in the next day or two.”

And Maher is also keeping tabs on midfielder Cav Miley (back) and striker

Danny Waldron (knee) as they edge closer to making a return.

"We’re pleased they’re getting closer,” said Maher.

"We’ll see where they are come the weekend.

“We’ve still got loads to do and there’s a long way to go but people are getting up to speed and the more we do that then the stronger we’ll be.”

Miley and Waldron have both been sidelined since late August.

The good news is that we seem to have moved to having the tight defence back in place but like my knees at times, something about the team is just not quite clicking into place - for instance, forward runs from the midfield are lacking at times with the option to pass left, right or backwards being taken instead.

Being optimistic this could all come right in the next couple of games or it could be as expressed above there needs to be a change in midfield personnel or shape to bring this about. We have some good players I think but quite how best to utilise them against opponents with different playing styles? [query face]

Having Waldron back at some point would also help I would hope.

Get our noses in front & I think we push on from there.

Wind looks to me like an excellent capture. Pretty quick ,very good in the tackle and able to be aggressively so if needs be, good going forward and certainly defensively, reads the game well.
Ive actually been wondering whether his talents could gravitate to being a very accomplished midfielder?

Get Bonne in the starting line up with Walker and Bim let's smash em! Get some confidence and goals in the strikers and HMS **** the league.... then I wake up and realise it's just a dream... 😔

3 up top.

You are insane if you think our management team are going to play 3 up top.
