Why would you play at LB a RB who isn't even playing RB this season? Straight choice for me between White (if fit) or Kyprianou if Coker doesn't make it.

Now I know you fancy John White but he would also be a LB playing at RB. White will probably be ruled out by injury but both he and O'Neil are more than capable on the left. The same basics of defending still apply, the only thing is you might be tempted to cross on your right foot.....And what left back would ever think of doing that :stunned:

Kyp is still a work in progress and when he played at Bolton for example we had 3 CB's with Barrett on the left to look after the young lad and on a few occasions he was needed.

Don't think Kyp did himself any favours at Stevenage (who did). Needs to show more aggression, he is a tall lad for LB but showed no conviction going for headers against a much smaller opponent.

Having said that I'm not slagging Kyp, there's something about him I really like, better delivery than Coker for example. PB likes to give the youth a chance but has also praised O'Neil lately, so there you have it.....The LB for tomorrows game will be Kyp, O'Neil, or White if he is passed fit.....And who said we have to many RB's at the club.

I guess we can't rule out Timlin continuing there if this Echo extract means anything:

Coker was replaced by Michael Timlin at left-back against Bradford. And Brown was pleased by how the midfielder adjusted to lining up in an unfamiliar role.
“It was as if Tims had been playing there all his life,” said the former Hull City chief.
“I like the balance of a left footer in that role and that’s why I decided to bring Tims on.
“I could have put Luke O’Neill there or switched Jason Demetriou across with Luke at right-back.
“But Michael was so disappointed when I told him he wasn’t in the starting line up and I told him to show it in the right way.
“That’s exactly what he did as well because I thought he gave a great performance.”
Timlin could now continue in that role against his former team, Swindon Town, tomorrow night.

I think the depth of our squad may be tested on Tuesday.
Coker out, possibly Cox.
.........oxley
Demetriou Anton Thompson O'Neil
Atkinson lenny Timlin mcgaughlin
......... Wordsworth
.........................ranger

Hopefully Cox is OK though and we may see Timlin at LB being the only change from Saturday.
Ferdinand.....two games so close????

I'm not sure I am ready for anymore fancy formations - we have Fortune so let's stick with 4-4-2 if Cox is not available.

I hear ya....just thought ranger and fortune were maybe too similar to play together.. I'm possibly over thinking it

They did ok for the last 20 minutes on Saturday. Quite a formable battering ram pairing making room for Wordsworth coming through.

This from the match report on the Bradford City website: "The cog that was making this Southend side tick was Wordsworth...."

So we need Wordsworth fit and focused for Tuesday evening (leave the laudanum alone son....).

We might find Swindon a bit of a handful despite their lowly position in the division.

Hope ranger stays fit for this one as I ain't seen him play yet, a hard 2-1 win for us I'm going for in front of 6,259 fans 314 from Swindon:thumbsup:

Booked my ticket for tomorrow on-line and got an email confirmation at 13:05hrs. At 13:20 hrs I get another email from the club inviting me to 'be part of it' and buy my ticket now for Tuesday night. Way to go Southend, way to go.

Brown somehow needs to find room for Timlin in the starting eleven - he's too good a player to sit on the bench.
Would hate to lose him because he got fed up and left.

We've accounted for 5157 home seats so far. I would be amazed if we achieve 6k by kick-off. I hope I'm wrong.

Ignoring the silliness, White was brought in on loan to play LB by Tilson. He can play anywhere across the back 4, and played LB at Colchester ahead of Coker - that's why he is a better option than O'Neill at LB.

dont forget we can always go for a 3-5-2 formation for this one at home with two wide men and three centre backs, job done and just attack Swindon from the whistle:smile:

All this positivity is making me nervous. It never works. Can't we have a new Brown Out thread just to balance things up a bit?

I too am getting a bit nervous about all this positivity ............ can we have some downbeat posts to balance things out please?

I'll start ........... the weather may have left the pitch rather soft and easy to cut up. Sorry that's as good as I can do at the moment.
