Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 4-1 Chertsey Town. FA Cup.

Job done, and decent enough result considering the injury list.

Chertsey a bit of a pub team to be honest. Once their early enthusiasm ran out of steam, there was only one team in it and we bossed it but made it hard for ourselves with squandered opportunities. The lack of confidence is really telling, too many players unsure of themselves and taking far too many touches in the opposition box when they'd likely hit the net if they just put their ****ing laces through it!

Whoever comes in has a job in their hands to turn the mentality around.

Bridge probably pick of the players, and felt Howard looked tidy once he grew into the game after a few early bits of sloppiness. Ralph solid once he stopped getting pulled out of position in the first half, Dunne always encouraging, and Ferguson put himself about too. Egbri had a decent game and put a few decent crosses in, but he had more time on the ball against a lower-ranked team. Dalby struggled and was bullied a bit, nothing came off for him.

Onto the next.

A magnificent win for the Mighty Blues against Chertsey Town, who incidentally are only 56 places lower than us.

A win is definitely a win though after the week we have had at the club and with half of the squad missing.

Has the Worm turned?

Well done Demi and the players. On to the next round for another giant killing.

Over to you people.
don't post often C but what pleasure it is to see a covinsing win regardless of there position in the pyramid of leagues. well done mate for what you do.

Tbh with the dire problems at the back, Howard probably played right of a back three for the first time, Dunne CB in a back three for the first time and Ralph not an experienced left of a back three either this was a banana skin well avoided.

Hopefully Demi Hobson and White all fit for next week.

Meanwhile sounds like we a bit more positive going forward.

Aldershot demonstrated how easy it is to get turned over if you’re not at it.

A good win very win help pick the team up that was on the floor a week ago . It may have only been chertsey but you have to beat the team that your playing on the day .Two things that made me Angry .One the so called fans that gave murphy stick when he was replaced ..and even in more bad taste was the few that had to call for Ron martin to go .Today was not the right time to do this .On the light what has happened in the last 24 hours .

A win is a win and still lots to do but, a win can only bolster some confidence and confidence we have a severe lack of at the moment.
Thought Howard and Ralph stood out today and grew as the game went on.
Dalby really struggled out there today and wasn’t his best game.
I was getting so frustrated watching Atkinson as was people around me

Whoever the manger is going to be he has one massive job on his hands but hopefully with some changes happening around the club things may begin to start to look up.

On another note I much prefer my seat in the West

Wot he said. Thank you for writing my match report @Bexley Blue.

A 4-1 win and fans were giving Kargbo abuse before he gets on the pitch. About sums up our fans really.
Yep- CP picked up on this. It’s a very very few fans- it’s just that they are very loud, and the volume and quantity of their observations appear to be inversely proportional to their knowledge and understanding of the game. But they will tell you they buy their ticket and, therefore, are entitled to abuse whoever they want. Unfortunately their bellows are normally littered with obscenities and a complete unawareness of families sat with children nearby.

That said not sure what the answer is. But it is a small number.
