Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 3-1 Halifax Town

We really are the Jekyll and Hyde of the NL, you never know how we are going to play game by game. We didn't give Halifax who were the second best travellers in the NL a sniff tonight until late in the second half.

The Sideways / Backwards seemed to be chucked in the bin tonight with attacking with more pace and intent. So much better from us tonight, oh and scoring goals.

3 points is what was needed and it takes the pressure off Kev which no doubt he had felt these past few days.

Charlie Kendall my MOTM, the guy never stops running, makes so much space for others and got a well deserved goal.

A great performance against a strong Halifax side with an excellent away record. We dominated the game after the first ten minutes. Could have scored 5 or 6, but 3 will do me.

As written beforehand, thought they would win with no pressure and not expected to get anything.
There's a mental strength lacking on occasion - and we desperately needed to score first.
Have reservations aplenty on some, but hey! 3-1 against a decent side, and we'll leave those for another day.

Yes- looking forward to be sat in my seat Saturday. I would imagine same starting 11.
As a bit of confidence came in so did the fluidity and goal threat I think

Makes you wonder why Kendall didn't play Saturday the energy this lad brings. Looked to be carrying a knock at the end so hope that isn't too bad. Golding coming on was weird as I thought he had a groin issue. Parillon had some lovely touches when he came on. Bonne great assist for Kendall's goal Onwards to Saturday

Well, that’ll do.

I thought we shaded the first half. They started spritely but we grew into it and the now typical three or four good chances we had went begging as usual. You’d be forgiven for thinking it would be another one of those nights.

Second half we dominated it. Chased, harried and pushed for everything.

Goodliffe had a shocking first half but grew into it well. Taylor was first class. Still not a fan of Noor & despite the oohs and aahs for his twirly pirouette, his casual Sunday league touch gifted them the opportunity to get back into it.

Thank **** for MOTM Charlie Kendall, who killed the game with a delightful goal.

Absolutely no shock to see us change our kit at HT. Halifax have been known as a tin pot outfit for a while, but to dress themselves in the tin colour was simply taking the ****.

Difference tonight wasn’t playing forward or with speed. It was taking our chances. Something we need to do much, much more of.

3 points of the Playoffs. Who knows…

great performance, more of that please.

That is the standard for the rest of the season.

Husin needs to sharpen his passing up, gave the ball away on the half way line carelessly for their goal, but great bit of skill on the left a couple of minutes later.

The front three that started put a great effort in. Walker, Kendall and Hopper all put a shift in and two on the scoresheet is much more like what we need.

Mixed deliveries from corners from Morton, but two peaches for the first two goals. Bridge gave us an outlet on the left and Husin, for me had a mixed evening, the bad negating the good stuff he did.

Back four looked good and Golding wasn't missed as much as I thought he might have been.

Hayes made a couple of good stops and looked confident, but needs to work on his kicking.

The subs, Bonne did really well, put himself around well and used his experience. Parillon looks a handful and could be a really good signing. Coker got on.

So up to 11th, four points off the play offs now, but two of those above us have games in hand.

Much improved - quite impressive bar that cockup defensively but the response to that was good so just forget about it and move on imo.

A shame some idiots towards the back of Block V took it upon themselves to boo and jeer Bonne when coming on and spend the rest of the game making *very* funny comments about him. Don’t get the point of behaviour like this at all, doesn’t help anyone.

That aside a very good result
