I agree, I can see another Clifford situation with him and Barnard on the horizon.

I agree that at the moment Prosser is a betterCB than Williams (it’s very new to Williams). Whilst we have seen amazing improvementsfrom Prosser as a player I still don’t rate him any higher than a slightlybetter than average league 2 centre back and I don’t really see any more comingfrom him, he is a limited footballer IMO. I think Williams is a much betterprospect, the problem is that he isn’t our prospect. I only see the benefit ofus playing Williams ahead of Prosser if we think we are going to get him on aperm basis. I don’t think Prosser could go elsewhere and make us regret lettinghim go like I feel with Clifford, I don’t think he’ll ever be more than a halfdecent league 2 CB.

I agree with most of the scores except I didn't think Thompson was quite as good as most. There were a lot of contested headers he did not win which Prosser/Barrett would have won . Conversely I thought timlin was better than most.

I fully agree on both points.

I also thought Binnom-Williams looked dodgy and would have been punished by a competent, interested team. It was hard to disagree with the 49 Cheltenham fans questioning their team selection and manager's position.

I agree with almost all of that. Prosser still has my full support whilst wearing a Southend shirt though.

Sorry to be pedantic, but it was Derek Spence, his partner Keith Mercer came from Watford I think, and was often the un-sung hero of the partnership in the 80-81 season.

My mates couldn't understand why I rated the barrel chested driving runs through the opposition, to set up Spence. Spence got all the plaudits of course. Scoring many headed goals from corners also, but un-selfish work from Keith Mercer added to his goal tally.

I think Derek Spence came from Blackpool (and returned there maybe) and was an Irish international.

Thanks for the correction, its my age you know.

Was in the East blacks last night. Interesting seeing all the subs warming up. When we had used all ours Barry Corr seemed in a world of his own - sprinting towards the corner flag then jogging back a way then fast sprinting again!. Must have been doing it for 15 -20 mins. Wonder if there was a specific reason for this as he was on his own - perhaps releasing his frustration at not getting on?

He doesn't sit in the dugout but stands all the game, maybe he needs to do that and also exercise for his back problems.

This is something I don't quite get. We have had numerous posts on here on various threads stating that Thomson and Williams could learn a lot from Barrett. We have had loads of posts stating how much Prosser has improved. now that we have a 'senior' CB back at the club why do people feel so sure that Prosser ( our player) can not continue to improve? I saw mistakes from both centre backs on tuesday that some on here would have brought up in the match reports had it have been Prosser

Great result last even if the second half was a little off the pace and we missed the opportunity to increase the goal difference.
Whilst I advocated bringing in AB in a previous post was very happy with the current Central pairing and thought BW was better in the centre than when he moved to over to Coker's position.
Very impressed with Thomson's performance . He made some very good last man interventions and apart from a couple of miss timed jumps was my mom. He is developing into a consistent player at that position but would suggest that whilst he won most balls in the air , the distribution was not brilliant. Many time it was headed forward only to be headed back by their defence. I remember last season when we had Jacob Sokolik in the centre of the defence not only did he win the ball in the air but it would be even under pressure directed out to one of our players. real class. Did not see the same performance this year when he was briefly with us. As for AB I now agree would be a great sub to come on and get the lads performing if heads started to drop. Thought Piggot worked well with Cassidy and great to get two more goals and increase his tally after only a handful of games. I am sure if Cassidy could get one then more would come.
Lets see another good win on Saturday

Yep I agree and think that Prosser must feel hard done by ... I would too! TBH honest what has he done wrong? Yes he got sent off for two yellow cards but he hasn't been back since, yet Corr got sent off and he gets back straight away.

2 goals from big JP and the striker crisis is over, so we move on and invent a CB crisis here on shrimper moan. We have the best management team in L2 to judge who are our best defenders. Seven games at home without conceding, what would some clubs do to have the 'dodgy' Thompson and B-Williams in there team.

Because Prosser lost his place to 2 players that are playing well, whereas Corr didn't have that issue.

Let's face it, Prosser wasn't exactly on the form of his life before his suspension!!

Maybe he can improve, I'm not an authority on this, just offering my opinion. I see a player with limited ability that has worked very hard and done very well to achieve what he has. Can't fault his effort but there is only so far that will take you

I think it is Brown that has put the pressure on Bentley with all that England rubbish. Clearly good enough for this league i am afraid that he is far from a top class keeper and probably never will be. Good athletic shot stopper but very very average in all other departments!
We'll said! We've just got to hope all the unrealistic nonsense-much of it spouted on Shrimperzone, hasn't gone to his head-if,and it's a big if,he can continue to learn and improve(his judgement!) I think he could get up to Championship standard in 5 or so years-hopefully playing there with us!

Corr got 15mins at Shewsbury and was an unused sub against Cheltenham......hardly getting back straight away.....If everyone stays fit this week someone is gonna have to make way for Worrell in the squad Deegan, Weston, Hurst etc.....I'm pretty sure Prosser will get his chance before the season is over...

the fact is we have a very strong squad for L2, CB we have Prosser, Barrett, Thompson, Bolger and Williams and White providing cover, the fullbacks Coker and White with Williams and Thompson providing cover.
ditto midfield; Hurst would walk in to most teams, so would Deegan. This is GOOD! we have options and cover!
Forwards are not quite as strong but even there now we have some options.

From comments from Brown in the past I think he actually is looking at him as one though.

I don't get the criticism on Bentley I agree with Penney he is the best keeper in the two lower divisions. We have to remember he is only 21 could still be playing top level for 20 years. He has a lot to improve on but he will play at the highest division. All you haters will realise after he's left that he is by far the best keeper we've had in years
