Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 2-2 Dagenham & Redbridge

As good as a crowds are, lessons should be learned from Oldham.

Same kind of situation.

Got taken over. Crowds went up, mediocre season and crowds have dropped down.
Yep, I said the same on X.

COSU need to grab this moment by the balls. We are riding the crest of a wave right now and could (if performing well and in the top 7) conceivably pull 10,000 on the regular at the back end of this season. But, if the experience doesn't improve at RH and what is delivered on the pitch isn't up to scratch by probably next season. Those 8,000-10,000 crowds will very quickly drop back to 5,000.

What we have been through and the grace period will quickly be forgotten and be over. I think we have to be pushing for promotion this season, or more realistically next, or the honeymoon period will be over. That's the pressures now on the players, management and COSU. Promotion needs to be achieved before that wave crashes...

IF we were to go up this season or next. The crowds we would get in L2 would be mental. We need to capitalise on that, before an Oldham type situation develops here as well...

Not sure why some are claiming we were much better at the start of last season. We actually lost 3 games in August last year.

Others claiming the embargo is no excuse then in the next sentence saying not having a full bench is a disgrace.

The reasons have been done to death on here as to why we never had the pre- season or the signings we wanted. Then an injury to Walker was a real blow. Followed by Kensdale and then Waldron meant Kev made the right choice in a 5 man midfield. We wanted more of Moncur and he had an instant impact which Coker cashed in on. Once Ollie he went off Kev was left with little choice with ‘tactics’……Which are always over nit picked on hear anyway.

Let’s hope any injuries aren’t long term and look forward to a few decent loans arriving in the next week or so.

Yes we all want wins whilst being entertained but most of us have the brains to realise COSU have only been in charge for 2 months and there was still a bad smell about our club this summer.

As for those hinting they might jump ship and not attend if we don’t win by 3 or more per game…..Your not and never really a fan anyway. So go back to your PL team

My son joked that we should bring Wind in at RWB, and just play GSM up front, he's such a good finisher. Always seems to be in the right place. Making the strikers look bad! 😉

Your son jokes, but I reckon getting Gus further forward more often so he can get into the box would be no bad thing. If Coker is out, Gus on the right of a midfield three? Wind could play RWB or we could play a back 4 with Taylor at right back.

No

Gus is a RWB. Why play a player who is in form in an alien position? Because he has scored a few goals in his normal position? Surely that’s the reason to keep him in his normal position?

Yep, smacks of the whole "throw keith dublin upfront" era. To me thats a massive you've ****ed up your recruitment sign.

And part of the reason he’s scoring goals is he’s not selected as an attacker. You play him up front and he gets picked up by a centre-half who has a height advantage and is much better at defending crosses in the area rather than the wing-back/full-back who is currently assigned to him.

As with Bridge he creates a mismatch if you play him at wing-back that you lose if you push him further forward.
