Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 1-3 Southampton

Well i have never posted on here before, maybe i will in future, however, i do read this forum often. I am a little 'miffed' as to why everyone seems to be condemning OldBlueLady over her comments concerning Macca, what if she does have a soft spot for him? i have read many of her postings and she does comment on other players also, both positively and in a negative way, i personally find her comments quite honest. As for Macca, do others notice that he is almost always the last player to leave the pitch? do others notice that even when he plays badly he is always 100% commited?
last night i thought Macca had a good game, not his best by far, but good all the same.
i really am starting to feel that there is something going on behind the scenes that we don't know about, it is something that seems to be affecting the confidence of the players, i hope it is not this financial thing again, guess we will have to wait and see.

Our performance last night was certainly better than against MK in the week, but it still was not up to the standard we have seen this season, we can do better, the fact that Southampton were, in my opinion the best team we have had at The Hall this season may have something to do with it, also i still do not like to see Francis and Sankofa changed around as they have been, when Francis was on the right he was defensive and creative, hopefully against Bristol Rovers we will see normal service resumed. UTB IN TILLY WE TRUST.

Welcome to the board, not quite as kind on here as on 606 and probably not best to defend Macca or me in your first post!

Alright OBL, we get you rate McCormack... No reason to agree with yourself on a seperate account.

OBL i never care where i am, i speak as i find, for those who don't like it i have only sympathy, everyone has a choice, 'read it and weep' or 'don't read it'.

anyway, i don't think i was actually defending you personally, or Macca for that matter, i was speaking as i find.

now will someone please tell me why Macca was wearing a black arm band last night. Do you know what it is like having 5 kids (3 girls) constantly nagging you to find out? Incidentally, they are not my kids, they are my kids kids, except one who is my kid.

Hi there,

Just wanted to say welcome and what a good first post.
This game is all about opinions and that is why we all love it, that said there are some on here who seem to 'fire up' OBL with their negatives towards Macca.

Most supporters have leanings towards particular players for various reasons: be they relatives, friends, role models, style of play, position of play etc - but that does not mean they cannot view the game objectively.

Personally, I thought Macca and Friend were probably the pick of a poor all round performance yesterday - on Tuesday it was clearly evident that we missed both Macca & Grant. I am in the minority on here who are still not going overboard for Moussa in the middle - yes he would definitely be in my starting 11 and yes he has big potential and he can run at people - my problem with Moussa is that invariably he seems to either run up a blind alley before managing to get the ball through to the strikers or he tends to keep coming inside where he does not yet seem strong enough and the attack can break down. But he is young and still learning, as is Sawyer and we should try to hang on to them both as they both have undoubted talent - but imo neither are yet the fiinished article.

As for the old adage of Macca being seen out drinking - shock horror "25 year old man likes to unwind at the end of his working week!"
Macca is not the only one in this team who goes out for a drink or two - maybe he is more visible because of where he lives, but like most of the people on this board they are young men - they are not a different species!

Once again welcome.

I stopped reading there. To call the Police.

Chill. Recognise the signs!

Welcome back Roxy!

"Hello, i'm Neal Trotman and i'm a Cheat"

Contesting a ball which may or may not be under control is hardly cheating. I'd be very annoyed if any of our players didn't put in a similar challenge in similar circumstances. Only one of their players cheated and he was duly cautioned by the referee for so doing.

You lot are nutters!!! EastStandBlue, OBL and i have exchanged views many times on a different forum, we have not always agreed, we have not always disagreed, but i assure you that i am male and do not have the outstanding assets that OBL 'may' have, however; i do have my own opinions and if anyone is so small minded as to assume that i am not an individual in my own right then i am afraid that is their problem, not mine.

Roxy i thank you for your welcome, and yes i am beginning to realise that your comments concering players and followers are valid.

your comment concerning Moussa is also valid, he is so alive and really needs someone who also has his mental and physical agility alongside him before he can really become the star that i know he will be.

I have known (not biblically) 2 of our more regular players for quite a long time, i also associate with some of our older players/associates on a fairly regular basis, i know a few players who go for a drink to help them wind down, why should any of them ever be condemned for it? if they do not perform their payed for duties on the pitch then we should come down on them hard, i think Macca overall does a really good job, so hopefully now when i see him in a bar or club he will buy me a drink. LOL.

Have we? :stunned: Bugger!!!!

Has OBL got a stalker ? Surely not.

Ken, behave yourself!!! I have one already as you well know!

it wasn't an armband. He spilt guinness on his shirt during warm-up

There's nearly a very rude response there, let's just leave it at that!

Can you imagine if OBL got a restraining order? The poor sod wouldn't be allowed within 400 yards of Alan McCormack...

You behave too! Blimey, 3 responses in one, who said anything about post counts!

Haha have i caught her out at last? Opinions, where should Francis be playing for best effect? please don't say "for another team", i just know that this man can perform well, we all know he can perform well, but really, where is his best position? And will someone please tell me why Macca was wearing a black armband last night? this really is becoming a concern, it seems that no one knows UTB.

Francis is a Right Back, simple as.

Macca's armband was actually a GPS Tracker, so he can be sure OBL stays the court agreed 50 yards from him at all times.

Cricko i didn't think of the guiness thing, to think that a true blooded irishman spilt guiness, he should be shot at dawn, if not before.

now a really serious matter. Why are we not allowed onions on our burgers any longer at the Hall? I was told by a girl who serves the food that it was for health and safety reasons, i insult this girl on a weekly basis, but last night she shocked me into silence, she says that they are no longer allowed to serve onions as it is against health and safety regulations, oh and i will be really annoyed if someone says it has something to do with Macca and OBL.
