Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 1-1 Woking

Woking are a big physical side and in the play offs for a reason.
A good point tonight despite the ref. Great save from Collin just before half time, I was right behind the goal and thought it was in all day. Can't wait to see it on the replay.
We move onto Saturday and our jinx team Daggers. We need to turn them over

Two very well taken goals and I think a point a piece was about right.
Good team Woking and they will be a tough ask for the FA Cup game.
No nightmare games for anyone but both side took the free kicks badly with Mooney having a really off night on range, direction and height.
Bridge defended better, overall we got the ball forward too slow and predictably.
No obvious injuries, more minutes played by Hyde.
Gus being back is good to have.
A top save by Collin in the first half.
Officials dreadful.
Some fans in the East shameful.

Was this Dackers last game as he is emmense
I believe his last game for us is Saturday against Daggers.
Shame he has to gonreally.

Didn’t think it was a brilliant “footballing” game tonight but it was certainly entertaining at times and one I particularly enjoyed

A point shared is probably the fair result.. if anything I would say Woking were slightly better, they were 8 times out of 10 getting onto second balls and just looked much sharper than us.

I think todays game was not suited for Hyde and he ghosted the game for the majority, I would rather of seen Powell on to give them something to think about in defence with his constant runs (just as he did at their place last season), in turn I think this would have relieved the pressure on our defence today who was sometimes overwhelmed.

We missed our simple passing football today and just needed a bit more quality in possession, I’m not against the long ball to Dackers but there was one too many lump up the fields instead of moving the ball quickly.

Again very similar to last year on our unbeaten run; it is so clear to see, the players respond to the crowd, when roots hall was going it was clear to see the players were raised by this - we need to recreate this in the away end on Saturday, get it all standing and rocking and they will play for us.

The officials are the same every week, it really does confuse me that 5,000 people can see something but every single time the one person who is paid to see it doesn’t. Refs don’t have an easy job but it’s clear to see a development issue.

We take a point against a top 7 team, the unbeaten run continues.

Scoring goals is still so difficult for us, and oh, for a Timlin or a Deegan in the middle of our team now. We are a passing team which works when we get behind teams but Woking were having none of our passing game and kicked Southend players at will. Three of theirs booked before half time.

Second half was better and roared on by the crowd we penned Woking in until, finally, Dackers took his chance with aplomb and the draw outcome was sealed.

Whoops, nearly forgot, the Ref and his linos achieved something that I though was impossible, they were worse than the trio at Eastleigh.

A good point against a very good woking side! We need to be more clinical around the box! I thought hyde was poor tonight and maher should have subbed him much earlier.Dackers is decent just a shame we wont be able to keep him due to embargo.Chris wreh must play.

That really was unbelievably terrible refereeing. I know we seem to say it every game but that was a new low! Trotting around like a pony, unable to keep up with play and missed so many things I lost count. Managed to blatantly contrive corners for them until they scored and seemed in some kind of time warp when giving offside against us over and over (though I felt hyde isn't great at his timing).
Mooney wasn't at the races tonight nor bridge who was given another start, which meant jd stepped down from the bench to enable Clifford to provide cover for bridge. (To be fair they were doubling up on him)
I felt we were outmuscled and lacked the aggression they had until dackers connected cleanly and got us back level. Felt we lacked experience on the pitch and had none to bring on.
Would have liked wreh on early second half and fonguck to add some strength hunger and bite. it frustrated me we leave it so late to make changes. Just don't think players can often affect a game with only 10 mins, unless to protect a lead.
Great save from Collin but a few dithery moments with his kicking again.
Fans were very loud tonight which I hoped would lift the players more.
For me the ref ruined the game and was constantly having to explain his weird decisions. I'm sure he's safe and warm on their team bus now.
