Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 1-0 Oldham Athletic

What a great day and tonic after Tuesday. The fans were absolutely superb and the players delivered. I’m so proud of us tonight (SUFC). Wish I could’ve been there. Heart rate gave the nurses a scare towards the end but that’s because it was bursting with pride at the efforts of you brilliant lot.
Without going overboard, Spiff is currently in hospital as he suffered heart failure last week. I believe he is now on the mend, so more good results please Southend to speed his recovery. Get well soon mate.

MOM was TBV for me. Asked to play an unfamiliar role but are outstanding. Great second half and never stopped for 94mins. An inspiration to fans and players alike.

Oldham fans in the Railway pre match all agreed we would be the team they want to avoid in the Play-offs. They were all good lads, maybe see them at Wembley.

A cracking result, and I now feel incredibly guilty for whining and wailing when I heard Goodliffe and Gubbins were in the starting XI, both had just the right performances to despatch the demons of Tuesday night. KAF just gets better and better and Parillon showed some divine touches, one of which led to our goal. Hopper and Bonne led the line superbly and Hopper showed all of his experience and class with a great performance.

A round of applause also for Kev with his team selection and the subs when used. All were exactly at the right time and just what was needed. Roll on Sutton and the dream just will not die.

We will sell parillon for quite a lot of quids I reckon.
On to the game.
I wasn't the happiest bunny when I saw gubbins and goodliffe in the 11. Glad to proven wrong...goodliffe was full on old school, s#!t kicking center back play.
Since getting his opportunity in the starting 11 KAF has absolutely smashed it, really grabbed the opportunity given and has been really good.
Morton however has dropped standards a little, unusually giving the ball away on numerous occasions.
Lovely shape today matched by obscene commitment on and off the pitch. The old girl was buzzing tonight...proper atmosphere, even chants going off as walking up Victoria avenue on way home.
We can do this (make play offs)
Just to reiterate the signing of Parillion could prove pivotal for this club I genuinely think he is going to be something special.

Very professional performance.

Leon has a similar build and style to a lower league Jude Bellingham - could be a bit special.

KAF is such a live wire, deserving man of the match today.

If Bonne could finish we would be getting out of the league, he has literally everything else but zero composure
