When a ref is in that situation (and ignoring the lino), do you just go with your gut in that split second? Or do you pause to think about the making sure it's consistent with other decisions you've made, the time left in the game, the conditions, the player who was fouled? I'm really interested to know. Sometimes refs seem to instantly make up their mind, but sometimes you can see the cogs whurring in their head to work it all out and weigh things up. It seems inappropriate to factor in external things into the decision, because the foul is the only thing that theoretically matters, however inconsistency and 'game ruining' decisions drive everyone mad.[/QUOTE]

Just made me giggle... the only consistent thng that ref did for the entire 90 minutes was consistently give everything to D&R!!
