Loza? For someone with pace and supposed higher league pedigree apart from one time in the north east wing where he got to the ball first and crossed it he is not the Messiah. Apart from one chance in the first half he and Barnard looked as if they'd never met each other before. If we were not going to use width apart from White pressing forward then Corr should have started. His ariel threat would have made sense with all the long balls delivered from Bentley.

If PB fails to make the play offs he will surely go given the resources he has been given. I'd love for a new manager to come in and be given the time to evaluate the squad, see which loanees, if any, can be retained, then work with the resources we have including youngsters on a 2 year plan for promotion. The squad we have was good enough for the first half of the season.

My name is parody ! Football is about opinions the back 4 won nothing in the first 15 mins and hence never grew into the game I didn't see the nice things from Hurst or Atkinson tbh what I did see was a lack of a "gameplan" we never worked there keeper properly we are the home team and in the playoffs we should be taking the game to them sadly we didn't . I thought Hurst was very very poor and had I been the tango man he wouldn't of come out for the 2nd half Opinions split and divide people that's why we have theses forums ...

Thought our crossing and shooting was diabolical all game and probably the worse all season. Crosses barely got past the first man and most of our shots ended up in the car park! Can only hope that's just one of those days. Lots of credit to Wimbledon though they looked a good side and thoroughly deserved their win. Didn't give any of our forwards much of a sniff of goal.

Fred has scored since Loza last did.

Didnt think Corr and Loza worked yesterday but didnt really have enough time andagree that their link up can be worked on. Corr was getting frustrated as he was winning the ball but Loza wasnt getting into the space he was playing the ball in.

Loza was frustrating yesterday, as I said earlier he keeps coming too deep, often 10 yards or more behind the defenders, thats not making the use of his pace at all. Dont want us to play long ball but he rarely gave us the option to do anything to pass it to him with his back to goal.

As for Williams, if Brown thinks he is ready, put him on the bench, if not leave him off of it. Different is not better.

EDIT: WIlliams is currently injured according to the U18s report, so ready or not he wont be in contention so you can let that one rest

Are you trying to compare a 2 yard tap in to a 40 yard mazy run whilst being pulled ragged by defenders ending in a classy finish?

The managers job is to instruct his players,Why Loza dropped off is a mystery either Phil told him to or Phil failed to tell him play on the last defender.

Williams injured has done my thinking in!

Fred has scored the same as Loza yet the difference in appearances is way off the scale.

Having attended yesterday and left very disappointed, I believe previous posters are pretty much there or there-about.

BBBC should've started, a couple of superb crosses in the first half were just crying out for him to stick them in the net using his height and physical presence.

Loza...lost his effectiveness by playing too deep....went looking for the ball, rather than being in a decent position to chase it.

Barney..huffed and puffed in the 1st half,

Murphy....please play direct football (as a winger), especially when we're one down

Bentley......thought he had saved the penalty, actually distributed the ball well (quickly) ..unlike his colleagues.

Hurst....good 1st half.....swapped wings with Murphy in the 2nd ....should've been subbed in the 2nd.

Timlin ...Man of the match

Very interesting to read that Mr Straker is back in demand.....my opinion, when he's good, he's v.good...but when he's bad etc, etc....

All in all, a bit chaotic, roles and responsibilities became desperate efforts and the wheels fell off the wagon !

The funny thing is that some people on here wanted a 3 year contract to be awarded on the back of that goal. Corr & Loza next game for me, but I think we may see him go back to 1 up front.

A goal is a goal.

A wonderful goal 4 games ago doesnt win us points now.

A manager doesnt instruct the players on every single move he makes. Thats some assumption to make.

There were times when Loza was with one defender and he chose to come closer to Coker to receive the ball on the left, I doubt thats what he has been told to do, its too specific.

Just one point, when I finish my boxing training sessions with my coach I am completed drained having used all my energy in the one hour solid workout. I do not have the energy to acknowledge anyone as I have given everything I have got to my training .

I wish the Southend footballers had run themselves into the ground during the match and had nothing left at the end of 90 minutes to give the crowd even the slightest clap.

So you don't even say thanks for the session too him?

perhaps someone could educate me here?

a number of people have said Timlin was their man of the match. Personally im not convinced ive seen what he brings to the team in the 15 or so home games ive been to this season. I can see that he works hard, but then i run out of ideas as to what he does to get so much praise?

Leonard and Atkinson both do that too, but then Leonard bursts forwards with the ball, gets decent shots away, mostly uses the ball well and is solid defensively. thats without mentioning his throws. Atkinson works arguably harder than anyone else in the side for me, and often shows flair going forwards as well as a decent passing range.

Then theres timlin. ive seen reasonable passing at times although not a lot of it going forward. ive also seen him make stupid mistakes like when he had the chance to clear down the line on his weak foot but instead turned onto his left and played a lovely cross onto the head of the opposition centre forward.

Ive got no reason to dislike him, i just genuinely dont see what extra he brings to the team over his positional rivals.

We all have different perceptions on players and that affects how we judge them sometimes.

I cant see how you can watch yesterdays game and think Atkinson played anywhere as near as well as Timlin, thought he was awful at times. Leonard however certainly had more of an obvious impact on the game, but Timlin does the stuff that doesnt stand out.

Agree totally. Was my MOM yesterday. He slots into positions players leave when they go on a run, I lost count of the times he runs past a opposing player and just takes the ball off the player who isn't expecting Timlin to be there. Has had an off period recently but has hit some form again now

Maybe a genuine 3-5-2 would help; the midfield would have the extra bulk with the bonus of two up front.

We didnt play well but still created enough half chances to win the game and on another day could have scored 2 or 3. Weve created less and scored more in previous matches. Wimbledon looked a half decent side and kept a good shape throughout and that always meant they would be difficult to break down, weve not been very creative against teams that keep it tight and that has been the case all season long. Creative players and goal scorers are at a premium in this league and unless you unearth a gem through the youth set up or from non league your pretty much stuffed as you are unlikely to get those type of players on loan, they go to higher league teams. I dont think any individual player or fanciful formation is going to make any difference whatsoever, its very much a team game and sometimes it clicks and sometimes it doesnt. There were occassions when a decent pass from midfield was poorly controlled by a forward and other times where a poor pass or no pass from the midfield was made to a forward in a good position, either way the moves broke down and opportunities were squandered. Its a very tight league and were no better than a lot of teams around us. I also felt the atomos, apart from the Wimbledon fans, was pretty mediocre, much like the team. Correlation?

We created what? If their goalie washed his kit it would have been a waste of Persil!
