Southend FANS vs millwall FANS

Fair do's.

It is mind boggling, it really is.

We were not Galatasaray by any stretch last night, but we did make a lot of noise for most of the game which meant we did not hear 'wall at all really.

Its so frustrating that the rest of the ground cannot hear us, as we are trying so hard to get the whole place going.

Seems we are fighting against an invisible acoustic wall!

The only real solution is to get us lot back in the north, which isnt possible. So does anyone have any other suggestions on how we could get around this 'noise doesn't carry' issue as its really getting to me?!

I think the answer to the problem is quite simple,TBV should place it's self in the centre of the west stand, allowing both sides of the group to join in and create a louder noise,at the moment TBV is distant from the rest of the west stand and indeed the south stand.
I noticed at the PUFC game, with the lads in the middle of the stand, the people around TBV got dragged in with the singing(myself included) to make a fantastic sound and atmosphere,im sure this could work.

Indeed.

But try telling that to the seaso's who will kick up a stink if we moved into the central sections of the west...

We even get complaints from some people in this area at the moment, that complain the drum is too loud etc.

Answer!

We certainly didn't.

Anyone in W and V will vouch for the decent noise levels we created last night.

This problem is even bigger than I thought.

Solutions please people?....

Smiffy how about ......Pick up TBV output via microphones and play it back through the speakers based in South and East stands...simple! Even at a background level that would help surely????

A great idea until it all goes quiet and one lone voice shouts out from all four stands at once "**** off back to Bristol Betsy you useless ****"

tbv done well yesterday and were very loud although i did sit with them..agree about ceasing to make excuses and just sing! ...i agree with mick signing isnt compulsory but if you dont sing then dont start telling tbv they were quiet! all it does is **** everyone off

im shocked by this, was in the west and didnt hear anything from millwall except when they scored and the constant ARGGGGHHHHH chant for about 5mins!! apart from that hardly a peep from them!! and i mean not a sound!! thought they were awfull fans, but must have been this mystic acoustic!!

Don't you all think like me,that Millwall's catalogue of football chants are the most dire in the league, the major chant being no one likes us,christ people no one cares ffs.

Me and some mates as young lads, not looking for trouble and out numbered, had a little incident with some Millwall fans in the Seventies, so I really hate them.
But credit where it's due, I thought their fans were really loud last night, even tho it was the same three chants over and over again.

don't wanna get dragged into this BV thing as it all seems a bit desultory to me but if it was ever going to work you would need to be in the middle of a stand and probably at the front (then would be closer to the pitch and noise travels up so would emminate back

Heard a lot of noise from both sides, but Millwall easily outsung TBV, which is no insult. Millwall were very loud and TBV were pretty good considering the acoustics and the fact we were at home.

So does anyone have any other suggestions on how we could get around this 'noise doesn't carry' issue as its really getting to me?!
Take the roof off of the West and re-do it. That's the only thing that will get the acoustics sorted at Roots Hall.

Yes, as you say the barrelled roof just means the sounds goes up then follows the curve back down on top of us and doesn't make it out into the rest of the stadium.

What bugs me is, it is the same roof design in the North bank isn't it? So why are the acoustics better in there?...

In the West you have two barrelled roof which clearly redirects the noise to the Back of the West Stand and not across the Pitch
I have gone in the West V/W sections sometimes and is very impressed with the singing / noise with 200 to 300 singing and sounded great in west stand

Sadly the only option left as we are not allowed back to the North Stand or allowed to move to the Freebie Section of the Blue/Yellows of the East Stand only thing you can do is to move to the front half of the Barrelled roof to make the noise go across the Pitch...clearly singing at the Back is no good as the doubled barrelled roof rebounds sound/noise back... but in the North Bank the Single Barrelled roof has the opposite affect....

I never went to the match last night... but over the Radio we did sound louder than the Millwall until they scored.. :-(

Keep fighting and singing Boys n Girls of the TBV I reckon over the last 18 months or the Atmosphere has improved 110%

Well done... everyone at the TBV here

cant believe that you are all wasting time talking about the 'could you here the blue voice' thread again when the most important issue here is the fact that the millwall fans contiually racially abused our black players throughout the first half.

Basically, the west stand is not the best place for the blue voice. probably south upper behind the goal would be the best place.

important, our players abused again by opposing fans!

The problem is the west is a big stand that holds 5000-6000 fans when full, and apart from W and some of V,the fans just sit on their hands and dont want to get behind the lads, what can you do when you have alot of oap's that dont want to sing(its their decision)thats where the problems lie.
If you filled this stand with people like us the west would sound awesome.
but its a big stand to fill, unlike the north.
No solution to this,well 1.
But consiedering we were 1-0 down our support was brilliant, what would we have done if 1-0 up more than millwall definately.
Other than people slating the BV section the south and east are terrible all season long and no different yesterday.

On Blues World it sounded pretty loud from both sets of fans, but Millwall were easily the loudest away fans I've heard over my laptop speakers.

Proberly for the fact that the microphones are behind the goals and the kids in the south lower are hardly gonna out sing the north even with 10 people in it let alone 600-700,maybe they should have put a mic in front of W?

excuses

however the new stadium will be bigger and probably won't sell out very often so the acoustics will theoretically be worse.

of course it will sound loud to you and maybe the guy next to you, respect this whole blue voice thing, out numbering fans atleast 5/6 to 1 we should be out singing them. think about it this way if those in south upper can hear them over you what you think the players can hear?!? hardly inspiring is it?

got a few mates coming down next week, and we coming to the brighton game we'll show you wastrel how to actually make some noise

With your attitude suprised you got any mates.
Was you there at millwall maybe you could have showed us there?
A nice day and night out at brighton for you and your boys,
wonder why this 1 appealed to you???? :whistling:

i like it how people comment on the tbv saying taken the night off etc. whats stopping you singing. just because you don't sit the tbv section doesn't mean the rest of the ground should be a library. this is our biggest prolem not just the roof of the west.

i just find it very ironic and people constantly put a negative spin on tbv. when what you should do is get off your arse and start singing.

Well said.

The roof's a lot lower and it used to be full or near full of people all who wanted to sing.
