Southend are poised to sign Barry Corr and Adebayo Akinfenwa

From what I've heard and seen AA would be a top signing and a real coup, hope we aren't spending too much wages wise on him (although we do have a wage cap so we can't be going too overboard!)

Corr is interesting though, in 5 years or so of professional football wikipedia has him down as having 13 career goals. Still, will give the lad a clean slate if he came here.

I don't care who the player is, we shouldn't be paying anything like that sort of money.

Corr 3 red cards last season..just what we need and AA wants to play at a higher level and if he turned down 2.5k a week ..what are we doing even being interested in him.

AA also wants to live nearer to East Landan and as we are quite near East Landaannnn. Then I'd say we are a good move. We probably seem to be going for promotion next season if you are looking in from the outside, and don't really realise how much of a ****ing disaster we are in.

If we sign Corr & Akinfenwa, we'd have 5 forward on our books. Does anyone else think we may be using a 4-3-3 formation? either that or a forward is gonna be sold.

Sounds like Bayo didnt quite get as many offers from higher level clubs as he thought he would after messing cobblers around with his contract! Its a shame as he is a quality player considering his fitness levels over the last few years. Just cant understand if this rumour is true why he would join you? Come on guys can you really imagine southend united was his big money move he turned down his contract at northampton for?? I think not. But if he does join then you have a good player on your hands and just get a pacey striker next to him who he can supply for aswell and youll get a fair few goals between them i should imagine.

Is there anything to backup these Akinfewa claims apart from Sky Sports? Is it not possible that they have their wires crossed and meant to report on Corr and Gilbert?

Just trying to figure out where Skys sources are coming from. Corr and Gilbert we've been linked with on numerous sites, or they've been seen training with us.....

Akinfenwa just seems a) too good to be true, and b) lacking substance.

Just had a hunt around Google and it's the only place with the rumour....

Must be the first time that Akinfenwa has been described as "lacking substance".

That was a scary moment, I opened the forum and due to my mouse hovering in the wrong place, part of the title was covered and for one horrifying moment I thought we were re-signing Barry Conlon. I nearly vomited with fear and rage.
