Southend are poised to sign Barry Corr and Adebayo Akinfenwa

What type of player is Corr? I've read the Swindon fan the other day being very complimentary of him but his goalscoring record and disciplinary record says to me that he's a Drewe Broughton clone.

All I know is his height. I think Corr, AA, Spencer, Crawford and Paterson would be a good selection with all having something different to bring to the pitch. Good League 2 attributes, height, strength and Spencer is quick.

Very average and a terrible temperament - 3 sendings off this year (one against us as I recall)

I have always liked Akinfenwa. Good alround pro and is a handful for any lower league defence. Think him and screech would be great strike force as screech can do the leg work and look for the flick ons and ade can rough up the defence and hold on the ball.

Would be good, but the defence needs numbers and francis staying would be a massive plus as ade would love to be getting on the end of those crosses.

I'd be over the moon with Adebayo Akinfenwa. He is a big, strong, powerful front man, but unlike others we have had who have been labelled this (Harrold, Revell, Broughton etc) Akinfenwa knows where the back of the net is. Will certainly be a handful for defenders in our division, and in divisions above which is what Sturrock wants.

Bit unwhelmed by Corr to be honest. Another targetman type player, but seems to have a real wild streak which led to 3 sending offs last season. Have seen him play a couple of times and never struck me as a player we should be in the market for.

Perhaps, going in for these two tall strikers, we maybe going a little ariel in our style of play, or we may look to utilise the wingers and give them targets to aim for when they get their heads up.

i remember the last time Akinfenwa played at the hall. When he went down he looked like a mini roundabout on the pitch

He is a big boy that is for sure but he has something about him that other players of his size dont. He scores goals

Didn`t he get sent off against us at Exeter ?

Cant complain with 2 free transfers like that. Good players for no transfer fee. Akinfenwa had a great season last year and has always looked a handful. Corr sounds like he has talent but a shocking discipline record like season. You can only hope Sturrock can get the best out of him. Just hope it doesnt indicate we are going to just hit it long. Akinfenwa, Corr, Pato, Spencer, Crawford and Laurent. You would think that would be worth at least 40 goals. Would be good to get them wrapped up soon so we can then concentrate on the defence and some more goals from midfield.

Just cancelled Thurrock next Saturday, however, looks like we will have some new fixtures added.

Think Sturrock might just have a team to put out by then!

He did. He also collected two more reds> All three reds were for potentially career ending over the top tackles. He was out suspended as often as he was on the pitch at Exeter. I reserve judgement until we see if Sturrock can curb the lad’s nutter streak.

I seem to remember that anthony grant had the same record , but has come good. Give the lad a chance if he comes here

finally after all these years we have found the new roy mcdonough

I love the fact that Soccerbase shows him as 5'9" & .......................... wait for it ............................... no this really is funny ........................... stop messing about ........................................ oh, ok then ............................................. 13st 7oz!!! :homer:

I'm trying to work out if that's just one of his legs? I would imagine he was about 13st as a newborn baby!
