As I've owned up to on here before, as a kid I was a Spurs fan before I even knew there was a Southend United, and much as I am now 100% first and foremost a shrimper, I've kept the soft spot for Spurs and I'll admit in the times we've been utter dog, its been a nice distraction. The song they sing that would work perfectly for us is the basic 'super tottenham' to the tune of Sailing (Rod Stewart). Apologies if its already used but I don't think I've heard it.

very simple but effective.

we are Tottenham, super Tottenham, we are Tottenham, from The Lane (then repeated following the 'Sailing' tune.

would work just as well with;

we are Southend, Super Southend, we are Southend, by the Sea..

Its also very easy to hear whats being sung as its so simple. Plenty of videos of the Spurs version on youtube.

Likewise, during the early 80,s, (keith Berkenshaw era), and being brought up in Romford,
i also as a youngster used to stand in the shelf and sing that song.
and
also have thought that would be a good simple song for Southend United,
But

We are Southend
Super Southend
We are Southend
From Rootshall

We are Southend etc...

That's been done before but don't hear it much now.

Glad this thread has got some action recently as I was gonna start one after attending the Barnet match the other night.

I’ve got a young child and can’t get to as many games as I did before right now so it’s inevitable that I’ll miss games where new songs start doing the rounds. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has this problem. A new chant comes around but I don’t know all the words.

For starters - love the Viva Callum Powell song but other than the obvious I don’t know the verses. There was also a second Lopata song (i.e not the one which just says his surname) sung by a small group of our fans the other night. Would be interested to know how that one goes?

Maybe the mods could make a sticky thread and we just add the lyrics to all of our songs as posts?
Now this is a great idea, let’s face it we are a unique bunch of fans, and some of the best in football, let’s sing loud and proud, together

Back in the promotion year of 71/72 the North Bank used to sing a song to the tune of 'He's got the whole world in his hand's' . It named every Southend player who was playing . I think that season there was more football songs coming out the North Bank than ever before .

The days when players were numbered 1 to 11 so a bit easier to follow

Have I got this wrong, but did we used to sing "oh I do like to be beside the seaside, oh I do like to be beside the sea, with a bucket and a spade and a f**king hand grenade, beside the seaside beside the sea" 😂😂 I mean it's alot to take to the seaside but hey
Yes we did

Used to go into work whistling this one many of a time 😂
