I agree with Lee.

This board is fast becoming a moaners forum.
Ok you stayed til the end so did I but sorry my life has far more going on in it to get upset that some people had or decided to leave early....

People deal with dissapointment in different ways...sh*t take a chill pill will you.

You sound like Victor bloody meldrew.

Not right for someone to have an eppy over people leaving.

Lee:

When the our end half emptied how would you have felt as a player, just ask yourself how our players felt when there fans deserted them.

So hope you enjoyed your five minutes head start.

i am NOT a glory supported and have watched us during bad and good times - especially last season. I must spend hundereds on SUFC every year so how you can call someone who leaves five mins early when they are in Wales wanting to get hom asap is a JOKE

So do you also not think that the players are entitled to a bit more respect from the supporters. How do you think the players must of felt seeing half the Southend fans get up and leave when the 2nd goal went in.

It's OK to moan at the players all the time on this board - but as soon as the fans get some stick all hell breaks loose.

If I was a player I would ask myself why I couldn't perform on the day (for the 2nd year running) (not including 3/4 players, Barrett, Bently included).

I honestly cannot understand why this is such a major problem - like I said, I made the effort to get there, support them year in year out and get monaed at for leaving five mins early. It's a joke it really is - I have more important things in life than to worry about five mins of a football match!!

Not at all...the only shocking thing is that almost 24 hours later its still bothering people.

Football is my life but i also understand that there are more important things to harp on about.

Some of you guys are like a dog with a bone with some topics...well the rest of us will wait til you blow yourself out..zzzz

I have got an idea..lets talk about the orient game,...or have you got a gripe about that ?

My thoughts exactly.

We're near promotion, just been to a cup final, having one the best seasons for years and people find it necessary to complain to people for leaving early...

Quote[/b] (Upminster Blue @ April 11 2005,10:31)] Having seen brief highlights:

- the corner that led to the first goal never was;
- Ugarte could have very easily ben sent off before his goal.  Two theatrical and blatant dives plus he tried to punch the ball into the net following it hitting the cross bar;
- Gower's penalty claim was certainly not outrageous, he had his standing foot taken away from him.

mad.gif
A couple of things...

1 - the corner was awarded because the ball clearly came of Prior's heel. The TV coverage showed that.

2 - He didn't do a very good job of trying to punch the ball in especially as he headed it.

3 - If I'd have been reffing then I'd have given the penalty when Gower's foot was taken.
You may have a point on 1. On 2, if you watch the replay, he first tried to head the ball then when on the ground he tried to punch it into the net.

I see you haven't commented on Ugarte's diving. Was looking forward to see him play but was very, very dissappointed with his constant attempts to cheat. I'd like to see this stamped out of the game - haul them up before the FA and use the video evidence to ban them.

Which is why they deserved some respect.

And which is the very point I made earlier in this thread

'We have got to two major finals in two years & are on the brink of promotion.
They do not deserve to be slagged off or treated like that. Do you not think that they realise that they let the fans down.'

For the benefit of those loyal supporters who stayed to the bitter end:

I left after their second goal went in - I  couldnt stomach it anymore (two years on a trot et al).
I was a wreck through out the entire game - f**k me I have to question my loyalty to SUFC - I'm  going to have to give the Citizens Advice Bureau a call in a minute - in fact some young NEED - the new "elite" social class created by TB and his cronies - stood up in U18-U19 blockand felt the urge to have a go at us early deserters - which I took objection to and retailated with a passing jibe back - unfortunately I dont recall it being one of my most notable comments of the day! )

Anyway, as not part of the Swansea 37 - I can only claim to be a glory hunter !

Although, we were home by 20.55 last night and only took 2hr 30mins to drive down Sunday morning - it is scant consolation to being runners-up.
In fact I dont know if I can bring my 5 month old daughter to see her first game away at Oxford this month, as she cant be classed as a true fan as she is certainly a glory hunter - what with us being only ever being in 13th place in the league when she was born and then we have been on an upward curve ever since.

I definately have a point on number 1. Watch it again and you can see it hit Prior last.

Will watch the replay of the handball incident. I didn;t notice it at the time - that's not to say that he didn't do it.

As for the diving. There were some crude challenges from some blades of grass on that pitch. Some of them were vicious. I too would like to see it stamped out from the game, they'll need to start in the PL if they are going to do it.

Politicians answer!

Skirting the issue completely. Did the players deserve your respect or not?

Obviously it's out of order to abuse people for doing what they want and feel.

I left after the second goal went because my luggage was in the Angel Hotel and if i had stayed to watch them lift the cup (which i did last year when blackpool lifted it) i would have taken my wife through 5 thousand odd celebrating Wrexham fans as thats where exit were. So was wrong for me to put my families well being before applauding the lads. She hasnt been able to go to as many games as me this because of work commitments this season. My wife bleeds blue and like everyone else was devastated when they scored the second and it makes me sick when fans get on there high horses about being better fans than others. I will tell her tonight that her that in other fans opinions shes a glory hunter and we shouldnt bother going in future.

Yep, come on folks - let's not get too uptight about this. So long as there are 7,000+ there on Friday night to cheer on the lads, then that's good enough for me. The players will know on Friday how much they're appreciated.

Matt

Seriously though, people saying that whoever left before the final whistle are a disgrace are talking f**king sh*t. who wants to see wrexham celebrating with the cup. i felt so bad after their second goal, i had to go. Couldnt face this a second time. And i hope we dont get there in the playoffs. Well done to the players, but i just had to go

was it that the fans didnt leave the game last night the ones that traveled by train and coach so they had no choice but to stay.

Why has the club got an on going competition about who is the best fan?  I left after the final whistle and after Barrett had led the team in a lap of honour around the park.  I applauded them and left the ground because I felt sick and wanted to cry!!  I physically couldn't watch the Wrexham players lift the trophy, but I showed appreciation to the boys at the end.

The fans that keep moaning about the extra fans turning up to the big match and not being proper supporters - have you heard yourself?  Thosuands of fans spent a lot of money travelling to the game to support our team.  Some of them left early because they were disappointed, some wnated a head start getting home.  This might have happened if we had won the game.  Comments slagging off these fans are not going to encourage them back.  If these fans come to two or three games a season they are still supporting the blues.  I have been to 10/12 games this season.  I travel 150 mile round trip to get to the home games, and because of mortgage, bills etc I can't do that every week.  I have supported the club for 22 years.   My brother drove 360 miles on a Tuesday night to support us in the semi final - he has driven up to Scarborough on a Tuesday to support the blues night on his own.  Both of us left before the presentations, so are we not proper fans?  Some of the people on here have the right to their opinion about what people should have done at the end of the game, but there is no need to insult others who made the journey for the team we love.  Those trying to alienate the thousands that made the journey and left earlier than them I argue are maybe not "proper fans" because they are determined to drive others away.  Don't be so narrow minded, accept that people have the same love but other priorities and have different emotions.

Rant over!!
