WHY?

I couldn't believe it when half our fans left. I was really shocked at that. I didn't stay for the presentation but I at least stayed to clap the lads off.

That said, I guess that some people did have trains to catch, etc. Whenever you plan a journey like this one you never seem to take into account extra time.

You've gone way over the top there.

Personally I left shortly after the final whistle. Absolutely gutted that we'd lost. Couldn't bear to see Wrexham celebrate. Felt pig sick, especially when it so easily could have been us with a bit of luck etc. I guess most Shrimpers, understandably, felt the same. Personally I just wanted to get out of there - the last thing I wanted was to be surrounded by celebrating Wrexham fans.

As for not a true supporter, that was my 50th game of the season. (Not including pre-season friendlies.)

I suggest you think before posting. After all, those people you refer to have done a round trip of 450 miles and probably spent on average £100+ to see the game.

All that matters now is beating Orient. Let's make sure we have something to show for what's been a fantastic season.

I stood up and gave the people who left some stick none of them said anything back!

That sounded an intelligent thing to do. Allienating the "floaters" who we need to get to Roots Hall on a more regular basis.

I think what was more upsetting than fans leaving a few minutes early (myself included) was that we (the fans) completely rolled over when the first goal went in.

You could here the sound of a pin drop, where were the battle cries, the stand up if you love Southend?.

Absolutely nothing, i tried to get things going but nothing.

The reason myself and my mates left early was because I'd have enough of hearing 'Gray, make a bloody effort' 'Gray's done nothing all game' etc etc ad infinitum.

That was just too much to bear after the guy had run solidly for 118 minutes, in my opinion that sort of abuse is much more disgusting than me leaving two minutes early.

shame then why all 20,000 them can drive 5 - 15 miles down the road and spend around 30 quid to see us at home!

My problem with the people leaving early is how it looks to the opposition. We've spent 118 minutes competing on the terraces with the Wrexham fans, trying (and succeeding) to outsing them, and trying to **** them off with renditions of "Going down, Going down" & "En-Ger-Lund" and then as soon as our second goes in half our end leave, seemingly with their tails between their legs.

I'm proud of the way this season has gone and I'm prouder still of the 22,000 or so Shrimperss who invaded Cardiff today. But to me what would have topped it all off would have been to have had the majority of those Southend fans there at the end, clapping the lads and still singing as loudly as we had been all afternoon.

Maybe but still it takes the ****! plus being ****ed off over the game!
Me being ****ed off over the game is exactly why I couldn't stay around for long afterwards.

I took my frustrations out on a jobsworth of a British Rail employee instead.

Felt much better afterwards

Not much to some people, but to others with mortagages, families to support etc it soon adds up when there are other priorites. Not to mention those that can't get to RH because of work and family commitments.

Overall, we shouldn't be too down. We're moving in the right direction, crowds 25%+ up.

I was determined to stay until the end to clap the lads off because they were all heroes today. A chap walked past when we were clapping and said to us "Why are you clapping that @h~t?"

It wasn't impressive. That is the same @h~t that has got through five games to get there and is currently second in the league. I can understand people leaving after the final whistle for reasons specified earlier in the thread, but this really wound me up.

And don't get me started on those that cheered when Gower's name was called to be substituted. Fair enough, he had a poor game, but had it not been for his goal we wouldn't even have been there today.

Great weekend in Cardiff, next year we will finally win it.

I left soon after the final whistle but made sure the players got to my bit of the ground first so I could give them a well deserved clap.

I had to get out of there as soon as I could not because I was p!ssed off with the team but that the whole thing was an anti climax as after 90 mins of exciting end to end football I thought we had done enough to win and should get a goal in ET.

I forgot to tape it but it must have been a pretty impessive match to watch on TV for a neutral. (If anyone can do me a VHS copy, let me know please).

Whilst some of our younger fans were registering their disgust at some of our 'fans' behaviour on internet discussion forums a mere 7 hours after the game had ended, some of use were still at the Millenium Stadium showing their appreciation of the teams effort.

I couldn't believe the amount of people who left after the 2nd goal, disgraceful. I stayed on after the presentation, as painful as it was, expecting a lap of honour from us like last year but they just went straight off. Barrett was the only one who came over to applaud us after the presentation.

I think everyone was just bitterly disappointed and to have come so far and having played 2 hours of fairly good football, it was a real sucker punch to have a second goal go in minutes before the end of extra time. The players were clearly exhausted but that said, they could have come over to applaud the fans that did stay and thank them for their support.

I left shortly after the 2nd goal, but as a season ticket holder who goes to as many matches as possible, promotes the club as much as possible, I do call myself a supporter. Wife, baby back at the hotel and a 5-30am start at work does not make me a bad supporter just because I left when injury time started.

I love SUFC but also have a life.

Also, for those less keen, football is a product and if you go to a film and it's rubbish you are entitled to leave early.

Other obsevations were:

1. We were outsung (don't be in denial)

2. Bad that lots of people were slagging off Eastwood where I sat

3. Gower was shocking

4. Why did the teams play towards their own fans in first half of regular time?

If you makes you feel better I'll stop calling myself a supporter.
